It has always been a complete mystery to me why he has ever been employed in any media - much less attracted the salary that he has been paid.

ITD dropped a massive clanger when the poached himself and Ms Bleakley from The BBC, based on 'sexual chemistry' - yes, I know ..... His lugubrious face, like a twelve-year-old who has had his sweet allowance stopped, and his gormless Brummie voice made him a disaster for breakfast, or indeed any television.

Mrs Hughes, who is a football fan, reckons his 'everyman' approach found favour, although I remain convinced that his media career is an utter mystery.

It does appear that he is now priced out of the market, and his shelf-life has finally ended - not a day too soon for many.

Oh an attack on regional accents now, in a week when this subject has been up for discussion, it seems that teachers have been told to drop their regional accents, because they are deemed inappropriate for education.

Bit unfair. ITD must have thought he was worth the several million pound sign on. I think he must be freelance now. same with christine. didnt do too bad for a short contract. I am reminded of the stunning newsreader with the Russian name who won Strictly Come Dancing and left the beeb for a million pound a year. Now reads the news with channel 5.
