...to exact retribution.

I doubt it will do much to ease the situation, but must give some grim satisfaction to those particularly affected.

Perhaps if more countries were as swift in their response...

Is there not something bitterly ironic about the fact that these jihadists' death warrants were effectively signed by jihadists?
Maybe the IS might learn that for every one person they torturously kill, two or more of theirs will die. It's all brutal, but IS are sadistic and cold-blooded about it.
2 less Scum to worry about. keep them coming.
//Maybe the IS might learn that for every one person they torturously kill, two or more of theirs will die.//

That won't concern them. More martyrs to the cause.
Maybe not the leaders Naomi but t may well put off those thinking of it (and be the ones dying).

Here in the West we have our hands tied by hand wringing liberals, ISIS must love it, they act act pretty much with impunity.

I say well done Jordan, and yes 2 less to worry about.
They have more Excrement in "their" drains Naomi.
ymb, death holds no fear for them. The prospect is not a deterrent.

I say "Well done Jordan", too.
I cannot gloat over the death of anyone, but I can entirely understand the reaction of the Jordanian government on behalf of its people.

I can only hope that the two sides are not launching a war of revenge, which is not going to solve the conflict.

That's not to say that I do know what will solve the conflict - I am unsure there is a solution against such mindless hatred, but revenge like this may only ratchet up the deaths of hostages.
//revenge like this may only ratchet up the deaths of hostages. //

It won't. The majority of them will die regardless.
Naomi - "//revenge like this may only ratchet up the deaths of hostages. //

It won't. The majority of them will die regardless."

I agree - my hope is that there will not be more of them taken to die.

The great fear is that all Moslems will be "tarred with the same brush", leading to their retrenchment and "radicalisation". That would be a nightmare.
The deaths of these prisoners will have made precisely no difference to ISIS. The only consideration is how we feel -- or, rather, how Jordan feels -- about it. I can't say that it means there are "two less to worry about", as these particular prisoners were already no longer a threat, being behind bars, and anyway more will no doubt be joining ISIS's cause soon enough.

That said, the long-term solution is only going to be a military campaign. Killing on the battlefield, or killing in prison? Perhaps I'm making too much of a distinction between the two.
because the Jihadists look forwards to death ( with virgins promised )death is not a deterrent I would suggest that all captured Jihadists be rendered impotent Now that would give them something to think about .
Yes it's marvellous how soon they spring into action when it is one of theirs who is butchered, all the more reason for us to keep out of it and let these Muslims, fight it out between themselves.

Good job you weren't in charge when Hitler invaded Poland or we would all be speaking German now.
AOG - "Yes it's marvellous how soon they spring into action when it is one of theirs who is butchered, all the more reason for us to keep out of it and let these Muslims, fight it out between themselves."

You speak as if Muslims are a different species, and we can simply sit on our side of the planet and let war and carnage go on.

I am sure that is not what your view is ... ?

No we wouldn't Gromit, it didn't do us any good defending France after Germany marched into Poland, remember how we had to evacuate from Dunkirk?

We fought Germany better from our own Islands.
Some massive historical revisionism and sleight-of-hand going on there, AOG.
Apparently they only have two 'valuable' hostages left, one male and one female.....
One's a Brit male, the other a western woman of unknown nationality. WSJ report.
