Farage Wants To Repeal Anti-Race Discrimination Laws
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/uk -318464 53
Anybody who is still unsure whether to vote for UKIP or not in a few weeks time had better see this.
He wants to repeal anti-race discrimination laws ! This will never happen, of course, because Farage and UKIP will never win a General Election ! But the fact that he has said this, is still atrocious .
My Dad had to put with signs saying " No Blacks, no Irish and no dogs" when he was a young man in post war Britain. If Farage had his way, these signs would appear outside the factory gate, all over again.
A quote from the BBC link :::: When asked if he would retain a ban on discrimination on the grounds of race or colour, he said: "No... because we take the view, we are colour-blind. We as a party are colour-blind."
If anybody else wants a reason that Farage and his Party are constantly exposed to ridicule, they need look no further.

Firstly we are not in Canada or Australia, we are in the European Union that has a policy of free movement. Secondly there are areas that would not give an Eastern European or a Muslim or someone who is black a job because they don't feel that the individual is 'right for the job' ie not white anglo. That is wrong and we need to maintain these laws or what will be the...

I totally understand some answers here.
mikey4444 - I think part of the problem is that people who intend to vote UKIP are going to vote UKIP no matter what.
It Farage was filming hacking a pensioner to death whilst high on meow meow, you would still get a significant number who would forgive him whilst muttering "I bet Tony Blair did the same thing before selling out to EUSSR".
I'm pleased that Nigel has made the statement, but I think he should go further and clarify his position on the whole Equalities Act...for instance, it currently illegal to sack someone because of race, gender, sexuality or disability. It would be interesting to hear where UKIP stands on this.

Whilst UK may not win the General Election outright, there's a very real possibility they could be 'king makers', in a coalition. If that happened, they could use that leverage to make certain demands. An EU referendum is likely to be one, but I would be concerned about what else would be on the table.

Naomi...Farage has continually said that he and his Party want to be taken seriously He has long stopped saying that his Party is only existing to get Britain out of the EC. They have abandoned the "drivel" (his words, not mine) of their last Election campaign and and now appear to have a policy for every occasion.
So, if he wants to to be taken seriously, he should expect to be ridiculed for spouting nonsense like this. Unfortunately, there are some people that chose to believe him and agree with him, as evidenced on here this morning.
If Labour or the Tories had made these remarks, its doubtful that you or anybody else would maintain that that there isn't a problem. That is why it matters. Racism should be countered and challenged whenever it rears its ugly head. You can rely on me to do that !

I'll need to look at the link when I have time later, in order to form an opinion; but the BBC teletext this morning was suggesting he wanted employers to be able to discriminate between native British and immigrant individuals when hiring. That sounds ok to me, as we ought not be bringing in or encouraging immigration unless a case can be made for needing foreign workers whilst many folk are already classed as unemployed here. And such special cases will be inevitably difficult to make.
OG...when you look at my link, you will see that he goes much farther than thinking that discrimination on racial or colour terms should be allowed again in the workplace in Britain. Sandy has it right here...he is playing the race card and is just stirring the pot again, safe in the knowledge that he can say what he likes but will never have to put his money where his mouth is.
He is just a rabble rouser.

As usual his words were taken out of context.
/// Mr Farage later said that his comments had been "misinterpreted", and he was “talking [about] Britons, whatever their heritage, being discriminated against in favour of EU migrants.” It was "not a white v black thing at all", he said. ///
Even so I wonder how many non-Asian people are accepted to work in Asian clothing companies, or Asian restaurants?

the Conservatives and minor Parties have not got the balls to say what Farage is saying. I doubt many anti UKIP people actually LISTEN to every works he says, because as soon as the work 'immigration' is uttered from his moth their ears close and they rush for their 'outraged' flags, waving them furiously. When all else fails they can pick through the bones of UKIP members finding individuals who they perceive have Fascist views, gleefully announcing 'well 'X' has said this so it must be UKIP policy. Every Party has its wazzocks ( word of the week),even Labour!
If UKIP really are a joke and no one is going to vote for them save knuckle dragging right-wing ignoramus then why are you getting so worked up about them?

Mikey of course it is obvious that Farage is playing to the racist in people. Not just the xenophobe as he has done before. My hope is just that the sort of people who lap it up are largely already in the 14% or whatever that already support him. But it is just a hope. Naturally there are Labour and Tory voters who probably agree with him but you'd think they might have already made their mind up that UKIP is not for them. After all these comments while shocking are hardly surprising. Maybe he thinks he'll get some Lanour working class votes that way. Whatever, it's a divisive stance
