This is potentially a very serious investigation for the Met. A couple of years ago, this would have swept under the carpet, yet again, but not now. I hope the IPCC get to the bottom of this at last and that MI5 keep their noses out this time.

YMB...the big difference now and a couple of years ago, is that the investigation now centres of the possible death of at least one child. People may ignore the odd groping but a killing is something altogether more serious.

As long as they keep digging, the Authorities will eventually find something. But fingers crossed for sure.

Some of the victims may still be alive but most of the perpetrators will be safe beyond the reach of the law now.

sandy...there are plenty of men that attended those sex parties at the Elm Guest House who are still alive a kicking............indeed, some of them have been interviewed under caution only recently !

Some will be long gone, but I'm pretty sure others will be around.

And who knows how long it did actually go on for? Does anyone really believe it suddenly stopped? I don't.

I really do hope they get to the bottom and root out this evil once and for all no matter who the perpetrators are.

The only think I would like to see is that names are not dragged out for a trial by media. It must be a trial by Jury alone.

As long as the Special Branch don't interfere and sabotage this investigation, as they did with Cyril Smith, it has every chance of success. If Special Branch hadn't stepped in to protect high-ranking officials, Smith would have probably died in prison, and deservedly so.

Difference reasons for the cover-ups, but all have victims who have been abused.

I think we have to remain confident - confident that truth and justice will out in the end - because the alternative is too distressing to contemplate - that the Establishment will once again protect its own.

There are some who have been unconvinced by the evidence that Cyril Smith was a paedophile, but who will deny that now ?

Simon Danczuk exposed him for what he did in Rochdale and how the investigation there was sabotaged by the security authorities. But its now apparent that it happened in London as well. I would advise people to watch this Newsnight link :::

COmmentator on the Beeb said they would go after the handers-over ( the ones who obeyed the order to cough up all their papers altho it was inappropriate ) and not the person who gave the order....
