Although all the murder and sexual assault charges against the pair were dropped, the court did uphold one earlier conviction against Knox. It reaffirmed the charge that she had falsely accused her former boss Patrick Lumumba, a black pub owner, of murder.

Lumumba was in jail for two weeks before he was exonerated. The charge carried a three-year jail sentence, but is moot because of the time Knox already spent in jail.

Earlier, Lumumba said he wanted an apology from Knox. He was the second victim in the crime, he said. The first, was “poor Meredith”.
much the same thing could happen here, couldn't it? That's why there are courts and higher courts, and when you get to the highest court, that's it. And that's the best way of doing it - mistakes do occur in original trials (this case seems to have been particularly bizarre) and a system should always allow for appeals.

I await the verdict from JoggerJayne LJ.
So who the hell did kill that poor girl.
Yes it is that bad, any outfit that can bang up a scientist for not predicting and earthquake has to be a complete joke! I don't know the ins and outs of this and they may even have made the right decision but you just cannot take anything seriously from the Italian "justice" system. Burlesconi's been "jailed" For Funks Sake but isn't actually in jail!
no idea, Fusion. Meredith's family all seem outraged at the verdict; but maybe they should be releived that an innocent woman hasn't been made a scapegoat for the crime.
Rudy Guede is in prison for Meredith's murder.

The Italian prosecutors seem convinced that he couldn't have acted alone.
Rudy Guede is still in prison for her murder and sexual assault.
to quote JJ

Let's think ...

Rudy Guede had previous for for breaking and entering.

One week earlier, he had been arrested for housebreaking ...

... and for the theft of a carving knife.

He had a reputation for forcing himself upon women, and not taking "no" for an answer.

His body fluids were all over Meredith.

The Police never found the actual murder weapon. It had vanished from the scene ... as had Rudy Guede.

Erm ... who did it? ... let me think. Errrrr .... could it have been ...

... Rudy Guede ???
In short, yes youngmafbog.

She has been found not guilty and should be allowed to get on with her life. There were enormous inconsistencies in the evidence and one presumes a myriad of skilled lawyers have pored over the evidence and come to the right decision.

Yes, it's grief for the Meredith family - they have one in prison and I guess it's only he that can reveal if he had an accomplice and who it was, but then he's a bit bonkers, I understand, so believe what he says if he ever says it?
I hope Knox is allowed to get on with her life, quietly. The inconsistencies and mistakes the Italian police made were appalling.
JJ will be chuffed as she's had many a battle on here insisting Knox was innocent.
> mistakes do occur in original trials (this case seems to have been particularly bizarre) and a system should always allow for appeals.

"Particularly bizarre" is correct. This case has effectively been tried four times by the Italians, and the verdicts have gone Guilty, Innocent, Guilty, Innocent. If one verdict had "won" 3-1 or 4-0 then it would give you some faith in the system. With a 2-2 split, as the Kerchers' lawyer Francesco Maresca said, "This is not so much a defeat for the prosecution as a defeat for Italy's justice system."
"Burlesconi's been "jailed" For Funks Sake but isn't actually in jail! "

he even changed the law on the statute of limitations to avoid going to jail...impressive !

the real truth will never out in this case.....
I personally think the "truth" came out in the first trial.
Watching the Interview of Amanda Nox this morning I feel this lady has a lot to hide. I think she has something to do with it but there was not enough evidence to prove it.
I agree with you Retro.
I also agree with the last two posts! I personally think she's hiding something.
I also agree, have always felt she was guilty in some part and don't think I'll ever change my mind.
I wish JJ was here. She seems to have studied the case in minute detail, read every word printed about it and has never wavered in her conviction that AK was Not Guilty. If you have the stamina you can read one of her many threads on the subject.

Knox is guilty as sin.
