With the concern in the rest of the country about the SNP potentially holding sway over a Labour government, something’s puzzling me. Since the outcome of the Scottish referendum was ‘No to independence’, will the majority of electorate there, who don’t want independence, vote against the SNP in the forthcoming elections?

We don't call the English,Welsh and Irish other than the English, Welsh and Irish.

That's a stonewall fact !!

Nothing to add to that.

Yes, you do, Sassenachs, Taffies and Micks.
My English family , when sending postcards etc call themselves sassenachs we laugh, never heard it ever ....I swear i've yet to meet a Scot who has referred to an English persona as a sassenach.
Just like we don't say 'Och aye the noo'....never heard that said it's fairy tales.
Numpties believe it....like they believe the papers. I *know* they print lies.I truly know !

jno....yip it ryhmed with rag.
Jackdaw...without being too harsh....you're not doing yourself any favours at all.

That's guff.

Not even a good try.....eeeek...painful :(
It's a braw bricht moonlit nicht the nicht.
"We don't call the English,Welsh and Irish other than the English, Welsh and Irish. " PMSL, anyway rhyming slang is not intended to be derogatory at all. I accept all the names we English are called. RS is not comparable to the racist terms for black people and those from Pakistan at all, so get that 4 by 2 off your shoulder, oh and that reminds me 4 by 2 productions is Sacha Baron Cohen's production company, he appears to have learnt about rhymming slang.
I've never thought of 'sweaty sock' as derogatory - as said before, surely it's just humorous rhyming slang? I'm truly surprised to read that someone's offended by it.

I suppose you could just call 'em a sock...wouldn't quite have the same ring to it though. :o)
Sorry for steering off from your question, Naomi.
