I think a politician has well and truly lost it when he praises a party leader for standing firm and ignoring the demands of the people. Talk about trying to get your party unelectable. Mind you he was always considered a Tory 3rd column in the Labour party.

Well, he would say that, wouldn't he?
I would think that the involvement of Tony Blair in an election campaign for Labour is toxic rather than helpful. Milliband must be desperate!
//The former PM will accuse Mr Cameron of trading national interest for political advantage //

Oh the irony!!

If he's going to make the News again, I would rather it was because he was being Tried for War Crimes and possibly Treason, the amount of damage he did to this Country!
I wish Tony Blair would crawl back under the stone from whence he came.

However, remind me how he caused havoc in 2004?
The central point he is making is true though. Apart from the BNP and UKIP, no other political Party in Britain wants us to withdraw from the EU, even the Tories. Neither do the CBI.

But if the Tories win next month, they are committed to having an in/out referendum. Whatever our own personal views on the EU, here on AB, a Referendum will tear the Tory Party asunder, as the Europe issue has done before, and even more of them will leave and join UKIP.

so agree with you balders.

my blood pressure rises every time I see his face in the papers - for whatever reason. there is only reason for to be there and you named it.
Mikey

He is probably banking on UKIP tanking in the General Election, so the Tory des enters have no where to go.

It does not look like the Tories will get a majority. If they form a coalition with the Libs or SNP, ditching the referendum will be a condition. Cameron does not want a referendum, so if he can weasel out of it and blame someone else, then he'll be happy.
I didn't think Labour could find a worse leader than Bliar or Brown, but they've done it with Millibean.

Shame the unions didn't elect his brother...
Tony Blair...the Labour Leader that kicked the Tories out after 18 years, with a greater landslide than 1945, and then went on to win another two consecutive Elections. Some of you have very short memories !
We're getting away from the OP. but worth saying that neither Labour ot Conservatives are remotely likely to get a working majority.

So it will be a coalition

Do we want Millibean / Salmond or Cameron / Farage

Neither prospect delights, but the Tories won't max out the credit card
Gromit...difficult to argue with much of what you say here ! But there are still some on AB and in the general public, that think that Farage and his rag bag army are going to change the face of British politics !

Because I think dave secretly wished he had never made the pledge to have a Referendum, its my opinion that he won't be too sorry to lose next month.
Mikey - Lots of charismatic leaders got re-elected, but didn't do much for their countries, without naming names

Tony's legacy doesn't do him much credit
Mikey
And a lot who lost loved ones in a needless war on the lies of "WMD"will have very long memories of a Labour leaders war crimes!!
UKIP will have less than ten MPs, probably 4 or 5. That will be no use in forming a coalition.

///Some of you have very short memories !///

Hard to forget a man who did his Country as much damage as he did!
//Some of you have very short memories ! //

My memory is excellent - which is why I will never vote Labour again.
Venator...in 1997, 2001 and 2005, it was Labour that got re-elected, not just Blair. Labour was hugely popular and the Tories weren't. See Wiki for the full details :::::

There is an argument to be made that if he had not abdicated in favour of the awful Gordon Brown, and remained Leader, he may very well have got the Labour party an unprecedented 4th win.
Blair sounds like blare which is what he spouts.
