RATTER...yes, I see you point, but the reality is that once a patient with dementia is admitted to hospital then it takes the "devil of a job" to get them out and that bed is "blocked."
In many cases, the next of kin do not want them home.
My remark about "from cradle to the grave" in my first post on this thread, was inserted to point out that the statement was now a "pipe dread", as this cannot be funded any longer.
I do really sympathise with the cares of dementia patients, but hospitals, for various reasons, are not the place for them and that is what Miss Hopkins was pointing out.
