Once again this HIV question cropped up on BBC's Question Time last night, this time brought up by no less than controversial Piers Mogan.

What I fail to understand by all this is the fact that UKIP have to constantly defend something that they have said which should be a reasonable concern to most people.

To all those who are against what has been said by UKIP I would like to ask, should we openly announce to the rest of the World that our NHS facilities are freely available to anyone who wishes to use them?

If your answer to this is no, then why is it any different where HIV cases are concerned?

Retro, that is shocking, but sadly I am not surprised
If the immigrants have the cash to get here then surely they have the cash for medical insurance during their "short visit" to visit their friends or family!!!! Get fixed up privately not at our expense. Why should I join BUPA so I can jump the NHS queue because the queue is sooooo stretched.
Why should we treat the World with our 'National' Health service which Labour keeps telling us is in crisis.? Next thing we will be distributing the Barnett Formula to all countries in the EU!

/// i think he made a mistake picking on this particular one. ///

He had to give some example, if he had picked pregnancies he would have got a similar response from the women's section, he most likely picked HIV because the treatment cost such a huge amount.

Why do you think this particular choice carries such a stigma, could it be that it has such a huge support from the Gay lobby?

Aog @1641, what Colours are you including in your question?
-- answer removed --
i don't know why AOG, perhaps because traditionally, it's seen as a disease that you have an amount of control over whether you get it or not (ie you generally have to have indulged in "risky" behaviour) whereas cancer is not (so much)
