Waiting For The Royal Baby
People have been camped outside the hospital for up to a fortnight awaiting the birth of Kate and William’s new baby. Does anyone understand why?

//The usual left-wing insults, I wonder if they would have said the same if there had been one or two of our ethnic minorities amongst them? //
How on earth have you managed to weave ethnic minorities into this thread ?
I too think they are nuts - and i'm neither left wing / right wing or centre forward

I mean seriously AOG.
That was so...'wayward'.
But back to the question. People are camping out because they want to be part of a historical event.
Remember those pictures of Diana emerging from hospital with Prince William in her arms (and George Michael's hairdo on her head)? Well, I suspect those people camping out, want to be able to say in years to come, when images of this birth are on telly, "I was there".
Harmless fun.
There are things I would camp out for, and this certainly isn't one of them, but I shan't judge those who get enjoyment from this.

//if it's a girl i think they'll call her princess //
Not unless the Queen varies the rules. The only great-grandchild of the monarch to be styled HRH is the eldest son of the eldest son of the Prince of Wales. The monarch can alter this by letters patent, as King George did when Prince Charles and Princess Anne were born as strictly speaking they were not royal at that time, being descended through the female line.
