Is he just being scaremongering or racist, when he predict that Islamic extremists could cross the Mediterranean and gain access to the UK?

What better way could they 'invade' Europe, and if they did wouldl we see the return of another 'Battle of Britain'?

Retro,
Remember the Adage,
There are none so blind as ... .. .
"This is the problem with Farage's position - he, like all other politicians has absolutely no idea on how we deal with home-grown extremists."
The first intelligent criticism of Farage's remarks.
Bright enough to analyse its causes yourself and suggest its remedies, SP?
Bright enough to place "home-grown extremist" on the scale of threat to civil society?

None of those three incidents were aimed at the UK.
"I believe a bigger threat to what I'd thought the best of British standards is displayed here in AB. I'd thought AB to be representative of Middle England, so the Islamaphobia regularly on display gives pause for thought".
Will the real Sandy Roe please stand up?
You obviously had severe withdrawal symptoms after suppressing your natural maudlin inclinations in your earlier post.

I do fear for the well being of some of my fellow ABers. I wouldn't want them to sink even deeper into the quagmire that is religious bigotry.
SandyRoe
If you are referring to my last post they were ALL committed in the UK by terrorists who were NOT Home grown and they all killed people.doesn't that count for anything regardless where they were aimed in your warped logic?
Will you kindly define what YOU mean by religious bigotry, Sandy. I'm ready to (a) plead guilty to the charge, OR (b) defend myself against it vigorously depending on your definition.
Categorizing all of the followers of Islam here in the UK as potential terrorists is close to religious bigotry, in my opinion.
The Lockerbie bomb was aimed at the Americans. If the timer on the bomb had been set some minutes earlier, or later, it wouldn't have affected us at all.
sandy...you are right, of course. All this is just xenophobia, in the good old fashioned British way. I said earlier today that I hoped nobody would suggest that we intern all Muslims, but it seems that there are some on here that would gladly do just that.

Its just as you say.......religious bigotry.
Tell that carp to the relatives of those who died on the ground at Lockerbie at the hands of a terrorist who was not homegrown and the atrocity occurred on an aircraft taking off and exploding in UK airspace.
This site is full of anti-British traitors. Don't care much about them although I wish they'd *** off to a country that suited them better. Probably be my grandchildren/ great grandchildren that'll end up paying the price if we don't come to our senses soon.
"Categorizing all of the followers of Islam here in the UK as potential terrorists is close to religious bigotry, in my opinion.".
Your definition with its assumption of a largely homogeneous "Muslim Community" makes it hard for me, Sandy. Anyway ALL "followers" of Islam" are clearly not potential terrorists; some Islamic schools like the heretical Ahmadiyya (whose community in Morden were one of the few Muslim groups to demonstrate against the London bombings) explicitly interpret the holy texts to forbid it. I defend myself against the charge that I think "they're all out to get me", and even more that I wish any Muslim harm or would want to interfere in his freedom to worship as he pleases. I would say further (in a statemnet to be read out by my lawyer) that "his client deeply resents such slurs".
The "bigotry" which I DO plead guilty to is the assertion that the holy texts of Islam and the example of its prophet of Islam give SPECIFIC justification for any of the acts of terror committed by ISIS and its home-grown sympathisers. (I believe this is fair comment, not bigotry). I defy you or any other to contradict this assertion. The fact that you and others do contradict it is proof (to me) that NONE of you has ever read one verse of the Koran far less knows anything about the life of the prophet.
In your case specifically I believe you have a sentimental attachment to all forms of faith which makes you assume that all "religions" (I suggest even you would make an exception for some "cults") share the same core beliefs and moral attitudes as you do.

EFY YOU OR ANY OTHER TO CONTRADICT THIS

Ah, Sandy's found a friend. Put a saucer of milk out for him, Sandy.
vetuste_ennemi...you are just ranting now and because of that, I am bowing out of this thread. Good night.
vetuste is quite right that Islam offers justification for terrorism, which some have seized on. The problem is in differentiation.
I would be willing to swear (hand on Bible - or an atheist could do something else) that I am loyal to Britain. I'm beginning to think that it is time that every professing Muslim was called upon to make the same oath (not using the Bible, obviously). If everyone living in the country had to do it it would be costly, but so be it - we may then have an idea of the people who are not enemies of the state. Would that help? I ask this honestly, differentiation is a big problem.
The trouble with that, jourdain, is taqiyya. The duty of moslems to lie to non-moslems.
SP, //There will absolutely be another terrorist attack on the mainland, but the likelihood is that it wil come from within, rather than abroad.//

If radicals are coming into southern Europe in refugee boats, not necessarily. We don't know who is here now and in current circumstances that situation is unlikely to improve. Quite the opposite in fact.

Jourdain, //I am loyal to Britain. I'm beginning to think that it is time that every professing Muslim was called upon to make the same oath//

That would give us nothing but a false sense of security. Islam permits the faithful to lie to the infidel.

Mikey, //All this is just xenophobia… religious bigotry.//

You are incapable of offering a qualified argument and hence your ignorance of the subject is showing – again – but you’re clearly not alone. Rather than insult him, your education would benefit from listening to what vetuste_ennemi has to say.
Will remember you in my prayers, Naomi.
