Well done of course, defying predictions by aome margin and finally the majority the Tories should have had in 2010. But they still need to work hard to win new supporters rather than just keeping the ones they have already.

I know you don't set much store by vote share TTT but no matter how the Tories try to spin it they have to accept that this result reflects the failure of Labour far more than the strength of the Tories. After five years of a coalition that has come under heavy criticism, managing to retain the same support as in 2010 is still a fine achievement, but the Tories have managed to win because their opponents have failed -- and, in particular, they have watched their partners in coalition be fed to the lions.
The resignations of all three of the main UK-wide party leaders shows how much of a loss this is for the opposition to David Cameron. He and the Tories can well smile and enjoy the moment. Tora. Of course it is a Conservative majority.
But a reality check. John major had a 21 majority in 1992 and his Government struggled to Govern effecively. Cameron has half that majority. Deaths and by-elections could see that majority eroded to nothing like Labour in 1977.
The Coalition had an 80 majority. Cameron has just 12. It could be bumping times ahead.
