I say abolish the Barnet formula and give them complete control of their own revenue and taxes, and stand well back!

it's funny how they always deny being funded by England and then gloat about it!
It's only Anne that seems to gloat about it.
We couldn't have kids, one friend has three. My taxes have contributed to their education! So while I am being stupid that is not fair!!! BOO HOOH!
I think you will find it is called sarcasm!
It is getting rather sad when I have to point that out!
Gav....saying it the once I understand but I've lost count of how many times she's said it now. She's looking for someone to bite...as per.
It makes me giggle! I would rather listen to her than some of the vile remarks some people post.
It's a good warm feeling knowing that whilst my entire family (excluding my English family) work their asses off that the good people of England (exc Wales & NI) allow us to live tax free.

England is indeed a generous, giving nation....we truly love you all.
Lol....now that's more like it :-)
We seem to measure everything in a monetary sense nowadays! I see it in the NHS where they sometimes spend thousands to save a pound.
I agree TTT. give Sturgeon what she (and many Scots) wants.

All this posturing about when Scotland will leave, and it will at some point, is ruining both countries and no one likes investing on an uncertainty.

Better to depart on good terms quickly and as painlessly as possible.
youngmafbog, I agree, but hardly right when the majority of Scots are against it.
I see where you are coming from but the vote was still pretty close and since then I truly believe Scottish feeling has hardened against the rest of the UK. The SNP's aim is to break away from the rest of the UK, and the Scottish people voted them in very clearly.

If you held the vote again, I think you would see a very different picture.

Besides, we are really just offering them control over their finances, they are not totally to leave the UK, seems a pretty good step in the direction they will eventually take.
The suggestion is not to give the Scots autonomy, but to empower them to raise and spend their own taxes, which is what they (snp) say they want, but I read this morning that it could leave them with an £8 million deficit.
A poisoned chalice in fact.
youngmafbog, another referendum now would be interesting.

Khandro, I’d be happy for them to raise and spend their own taxes, as long as they didn’t expect to spend some of the taxes we raise too.
Scotland does not want complete autonomy..as decided by the referendum...enhanced devolution is fine by the majority of Scots..unfortunately the loony lefties shout louder than the considered realists and give a very false impression. Scotland voted in the General Election for SNP within that remit NOT for separation..
Sorry!!! that ^ should be £8 Billion!
Can we decide who gets 'our' taxes and who doesn't?
Doubt it. We can't.
Booh hooh! That's NOT FAIR!
