If just amazes me how selfish smokers are. Even with overwealming evidence some above insist it's rubbish and presumably continue to gas their own kids at home. If it was left to smokers to put their own house in order we'd still have 70% smokers but they'd love that. They like nothing more than to justify their foul disgusting habit. Society had to do something...

I am amazed how many people are still in denial about the effect of smoking on health ! It appears that you can take a horse to water, etc. Very good comment from TTT, which why I have given him BA !
To paraphrase...."Typical smoker(s)... must justify the habit "
TooTroo is particularly in denial. He doesn't say whether he is a smoker or not, although his response shows that he has the potential to be !

Pity he can't spell overwhelmed. Not all smokers are selfish, most of us agree that you should not inflict your habit on others and would not dream of smoking when children are present. Give it a rest, we all know your views by now after your many posts on the subject. Stands back and waits for the flak!
Years ago 40/50's smoking was the norm, my father smoked cigarettes then a pipe for years, some of my young friends had both parents that smoked. My parents died aged 81 and 92. Their children are still here and still Ok and I used to smoke too. Years ago the smoking took place in the home and the workplace before the nanny state started telling people of the doom we all faced if we smoked, drank, ate fatty foods and sugary foods etc. So it isn't quite so bleeding obvious to me. Air pollution is much more of a problem now, there is much more air traffic and road traffic. Smokers are now educated to not smoke in front of their children and smoke in designated areas, it wasn't even considered to be a selfish act 70 years ago. Where is the evidence that it was bad for us then?
