You are either black or you are not. Her parents have said that she is most definitely white, so why is she still continuing to say she is black ?

Quote from her Mother, in the above link :::

"Hours beforehand, her mother Rutheanne Dolezal told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme that her daughter had become "disconnected from reality".

You can say that again !

She rambled on in an interview I heard on PM lst night.
The bottom line, after all the rubbish is discounted is, she's a liar.

Dougie...I think you are right...she is dishonest rather than confused. But she has been caught out, red-handed...you would have thought she would just admit it !
In an interview i saw last night, she claimed that from the age of about 5, she identified as black and when she drew herself, she did so with a black crayon, rather than a pale one, and always gave herself black, frizzy hair (an afro). Her parents denied this had ever taken place.
there got be money involved somewhere in the equation.
Why?
I guess it's not worth taking this woman seriously any more, although it is hard to understand what motivated her to do this. Possibly just one of the more elaborate forms of rejection of your family origins?
So, this is a bit like a little girl drawing herself as a little boy and feeling more masculine than feminine. If she did that would her parents think she was 'disconnected from reality'. I think her parents behavior is disgusting. They can't be racist as they adopted a black boy -maybe they treated him in a different way,or she was jealous as a child? who knows? There is no reason for them to support the Lynch mob Press in this matter. I doubt she got the job because she said she was mixed race. I would not have resigned from my job, does this give the message that you can't work for NAACP if you are white?
The possible parallel with young boys identifying as girls (and vice versa) had occurred to me too -- but I think this is something rather different. Maybe it's not, I might be being harsh on her, but the unusual circumstances with her family suggest that this is a great deal about rejecting them.
It's a very strange story.
I think a great many of her colleagues will be feeling that they have been lied to and feel somewhat humiliated by their support of her in the past.
yes Jim I think their will be a family problem but I think the parents should not have contributed to the Lynch mob press. A 'no comment' would be much more appropriate -giving the Press pictures of her as a child ,in my opinion, is spiteful and very wrong.
Why should her colleagues feel humiliated? She was doing her job supporting anti-racism. She was not asking for their help she was giving help. Can't a white person give help to a black person ? where does it stop -oh you can't work for Gay rights because you are not Gay? Incredible.
This isn't a recent thing, she has 'been black' for many years. She is on record giving interviews about her 'struggles' growing up as a black person, the racism she has faced because of her colour.....the problems she has had with her 'frizzy' hair, etc. etc..
All of which her 'naturally' black colleagues will have truly experienced.....I would feel humiliated at the thought that someone had assumed my very real life-challenges purely for effect.
She could have done good works for the NAACP as a white person.
Yes I agree she could have done her job just as well without 'pretending' to be black.
mikey me old china, one word: Raving!
Tora -so in your opinion everyone with an identity crisis or psychological problems are 'raving'. You'll be saying next that Gay people can be 'cured'
// there got be money involved somewhere in the equation.//

yup internal litigation within the family apparently
[ just like the 1690 Salem witch trials were really about property/land disputes ]

Altho I have to say - if my d said I was black and I was in fact a son of a Norwegian immigrant, I probably would say : I dont look at it like that

The bruv ( adopted and really black this time ) dobbed her in
Peter: As we seem to be getting dragged into the twilight zone , maybe she was Black in another life and can't accept her pallidity in this life?

Dee Sa /// there got be money involved somewhere in the equation ///

Apart from earning a living in the black grievance industry didn't she sue someone for racial discrimination.
Reminds me of Alicia Head, saying something stupid and not thinking that it would eventually get well out of control.
// where does it stop -oh you can't work for Gay rights because you are not Gay? Incredible.//

since we are firmly in the twilight zone retro

They ( tv) were looking at the Wildeblood case, I think that was the 1956 prosecutions for homosexuality and CHE was set up. - - and - and The Pres said to the secretary of the organisation ( someone recalled ) why are you doing this,
and the secretary said because I am gay
and the pres said - oh heavens that has really wrecked it - we cant say you support this from a human rights point of view ( blah blah blah )

so that is a counter example from history - to work in gay rights org, you CAN'T be gay ( then in the fifties )

the past is a different country - possibly a twlight zone

I think the Dad could not say no comment to paternity without introducing the idea that - erm he wasnt... ( the Dad )
