What has this got to do with Lineker, rules are rules?
Apart from that, why should Hamilton be invited into the Royal Box anyway?

I think Mr Lineker is entitled to express an opinion.
On this occasion, I do not agree with him, or other detractors.
The dress code in the Royal Box is part of an ages-old tradition, and like a lot of traditions, it should not be eroded by making exceptions, and I am pleased to see that on this occasion, the club upheld its code, which it does advise in advance.
Mr Hamilton was invited - along with a number of other high-profile British stars of screen and sport, which I believe is also a long tradition.
I am sorry Mr Hamilton lost the match, but to his credit, he accepted that his dress was not in keeping with the stated requirements, and he stepped away from the royal box.

Gromit...I hope your last post was tongue in cheek !
The Royal Box at Wimbledon must be one of the last places that a jacket and tie is compulsory, and you would have thought that Hamilton would have known that.
Mind you, I recall Russell Grant being before the Commons Select Committee, and not only did he not have a tie on, his shirt was open down to his naval ! So, at least Hamilton looked smart, even though it wasn't smart enough.
Rather nice shirt actually !

I thought that Lewis looked far more smart and tidy than some of the so called celebs and sports stars that, although they have been wearing a tie, it was knotted but not pulled close to the Adams apple and the top shirt button was undone. This would not have been acceptable when I was at high school, boys or girls! Yes there is a dress code and someone should have made Lewis aware of it because he is really a very smart dresser normally.
///You would have thought he or his agent would have realised the dress code.///
