Who says the SNP are anti English :-)
Someone had to stand up for the majority of the English against this rather shabby attempt effectively to reintroduce fox hunting in England
Cameron gambled that they would not vote against something which is legal in Scotland, but I could not see the logic behind that assumption

Danny...its not quite a clear cut as that. See this quote from the BBC link : "Mr Robertson (Leader of the SNP group in Westminster) said: "We totally oppose fox hunting, and when there are moves in the Scottish Parliament to review whether the existing Scottish ban is strong enough, it is in the Scottish interest to maintain the existing ban in England and...

"It was hypocritical of the SNP to behave like this "
It wasn't hypocritical. It was inconsistent with their previous policy, but as I said earlier, it's what Cameron deserves, because it was he who used Scotland as a highly dubious pretext for this shabby backdoor attempt to indulge a few pro-hunt lobbyists

A partial victory perhaps, as dave has postponed tomorrow's vote on hunting, because of the SNP ! Well done Sweaties !

Saying they wouldn't vote on it (as they do in Svejk's link) was not hypocritical - it was simply lying. The hypocrisy was elsewhere ...
hypocrisy: the practice of claiming to have moral standards or beliefs to which one's own behaviour does not conform.
... like claiming not to like the kind of foxhunting practised in your own country, while being in power in that country for eight years and doing nothing about it, then voting to stop another country aligning its standards with yours ...

Ellipsis...I live in Wales, so whatever happens in Scotland has very little meaning for me one way or the other. I am just glad that the main opposition parties in Westminster have defeated the Tories on this issue.
By the way, are you pro or anti fox hunting ? ( you don't have to answer this if you would rather not, but I am curious ! )

But the issue of the difference between Scotland and England/Wales has only arisen because of the highly dubious Tory desire to "bring the legislation in line" which truly is ridiculous. The point is the desire to change. Foxhunting was outlawed thoroughout Great Britain. The "toffs" are not allowed to do it any more in Scotland than they are in England or Wales.
What hopefully thia fuss wuill do is to encourage the SNP to look at bringing the legislation in Scotland in line with the rest of GB. Which would make more sense, given that it is Scotland which is lagging behind here

Hi Mikey, I've answered that several times during this thread ... I'm happy for the status quo to remain, and I credit the Tory rebels with that - no rebels and this vote would go through based on the Tory majority.
I am simply pointing out the hypocrisy and lies of the SNP, who are happy to welcome English and Welsh people to Scotland to practise the kind of foxhunting that they would vote against in England and Wales ... given the chance, steg.

ichkeria...is right here. If dave is really trying to pretend that his only intention is somehow bring English and Welsh law into line with Scottish law, then he speaks with forked tongue. ! The concept is ludicrous.
The Tories have wanted to bring back hunting ever since a previous Labour Government outlawed the practise a few years ago.
As far as I am aware, the Tories are the only political party in Britain today, that favours fox hunting, unless someone can show me differently. The fact that they would rather waste parliamentary time on this fruitless exercise, rather than get to grips with the problems that we all face today, speaks volumes.
