nobody should take any notice of her opinion on just about anything. //
I don't think this man should be suspended for his opinions, I don't think Katie Hopkins shouldn't be allowed opinions, but I do think that White Dee's opinions are not really worth taking notice of.
In the first two instances - both people are making a profession out of offering their opinions, and given a public platform to dispense them.
But there is a world of difference between holding an offensive opinion, and voicing that opinion in a public forum, and that is where this presenter, and Katie Hopkins, fall foul of the platform for free speech.
As for White Dee, by definition, her opinions are likely to be uninformed, and therefore can safely be ignored.
Yet we should sit and listen to Anjem choudary as it will be an opportunity to learn something.
Odd!

Talbot...I am on record of castigating Anjem Choudary on every occasion that I have had the opportunity to do so. I think he is a very dangerous terrorist sympathiser. Do your own research if you want to see evidence of my record.
But there is no connection with him and this tw6t Dyke. What Dyke said was stupid and unforgivable, and if he loses him job, so be it.....its his own fault.

Fair enough - let me try and explain.
If you give someone the means to express an opinion - a radio show, or a newspaper column or a TV show, then off they go and say what they think.
But that doesn't mean they can say anything and everything that they think simply because they feel like it.
With the public platform comes a level of responsibility - not to set out to offend people, and not to make comments which cannot be reasonably defended.
It is neatly encapsulated in the famous story - 'Freedom of speech does not entitle you falsely to shout 'Fire!' in a crowded theatre.
So, because this presenter has made some seriously unpleasant remarks about breastfeeding mothers, and about women in general, he finds himself suspended.
I have never said that Katie Hopkins should not have, or express her opinions, but again, making a living from deliberately making controversial observations is not, in my view, a valid way for a mature adult to carry on.
And as for White Dee - I regard her opinion as dubious because I suspect she knows little about the serious economic and political backdrop the migrant crisis.
Hope that helps.

A different scenario, since he is not a radio or tv personality, he is a religious figure preaching to the faithful of his mosque.
I do not for one moment condone the bile and vitriol that spills out of his mouth under the guise of appropriate preaching, but none the less, he cannot be included with the others in this discssuon, who are all involved in branches of the entertainment and media worlds.

I am pleased that the Ed and his team of Mods are not so sensitive else most of us here would be suspended for daring to voice our personal views over the internet.
Long live the last media of lawful free speech.

Don't worry yourself we have no wish for 'Your Sympathy', but I suppose on humanity grounds we should show a certain amount of sympathy towards you, since you are never happy unless you are churning out your leftish view points, and giving insulting names to anyone who differers from your views.

I am sure the Ed and team would kill for the level of exposure (and attendant ad. revenue!) that an audience like the protagonists mentioned can command.
I am equally sure that if they did - our (and I mean all of us) willingness to spout our views will-nilly all day every day would be seriously curtailed!!

Nigel Farage has had enough offensive personal remarks made against him, by the papers, the radio and the TV, should all responsible be sacked?
If you want to hear offensive remarks made directly against certain 'celebrity' individuals, listen to the Steve Allen show on LBC Radio, 4.00am to 6-00am.
This is how he is described on their web site.
"No one is safe from this man's tongue... it's Steve Allen".

Yes, I think it is the correct action.

You have taken a section of my post out of context.
I did say that this man should not be suspended for his opinions. What I went on to explain is that having an objectionable offensive opinion is not a suspendable offence - voicing it on air is - and that is the difference.

That is different - our culture allows for politicians to be ridiculed and insulted, it has been part of the democratic system for hundreds of years. Politicians are by definition strong characters, and accept it.
// If you want to hear offensive remarks made directly against certain 'celebrity' individuals, listen to the Steve Allen show on LBC Radio, 4.00am to 6-00am. //
I am outside the broadcast area.

That sounds wrong on a number of levels!

I don't see why Choudary, this man, Katie Hopkins and White Dee should not be compared, they all spout rubbish.
"This man is somewhat out of date and needs to modernise his opinions"
Accoring to you this man is 6 decades out of date, yet Choudary is centuries out of date, you didn't call for him to 'modernise his opinions'

That's a matter of opinion, rather than fact - but my exclusion of Choudary is based on the reasons I have given - he is not in the entertainment or media business.

I absolutely agree - but I didn't bring Choudary into the debate. If a thread comes up where his views are being discussed, I will be delighted to weigh in with my viewpoint - but this is not it.

Agree or not I find it puzzling your thoughts on who we should listen to and who we shouldn't.
Most people will know Choudary from the TV.
What links them all is they all spout rubbish but you treat them differently.
andy on Katie Hopkins.
shallow, self-obsessed, over-opinionated, attention-seeking idiot.
If she was ignored, as she should be, she would vanish overnight, but we do get the press we deserve.
andy on White Dee.
Why on earth would anyone take a moment's notice of this woman's opinion on just about anything?
andy on Hate Preacher Choudary.
If Mr Choudry is engaged in a properly organised and managed debate, it will be an opportunity to learn something about the reasons for his hatred of Western culture, and maybe to have him listen to some opposing views, which may even impact on his own position.
