Why oh dear? A clear sign that the weeding process is working. It would have been fairly easy to tell that Serwokta was and never has been a Labour supporter. It was pretty dim witted of him to even try considering voting in this election considering his political allegiance is in the public domain.
// Serwotka was a member of Socialist Organiser in the late 1980s and early 1990s. He was later a supporter of the Socialist Alliance and then Respect. //

To paraphrase your link material...
Serwotka’s union, the PCS, is not affiliated to the Labour Party and is part of a coalition which stood against Labour at the general election. He voted for the Green Party in 2010 and said, “Labour doesn't speak for me."
It sounds to me as if he has even less right to participate in a Labour leadership election than you have, TTT!

In a true 'Punch' voice, "That's the way to do it".

/// You think people who do not vote for or support the Labour Party should decide the leader? - and that would demonstrate democracy at work? ///
This is not about all that, it is all because of Labour's battle between the left and the right of the party.
*** The new system, which among other things made union members who want a vote in leadership contests sign up as affiliated supporters, was introduced last year by previous Labour leader Ed Miliband. ***
