/// When someone brought a watermelon to work, he thought that was racist ///
/// 'We would say stuff like, "The reporter's out in the field." And he would look at us and say, "What are you saying, cotton fields? That's racist".' ///
/// 'We'd be like, "What?' We all know what that means, but he took it as cotton fields, and therefore we're all racists.' ///
Unless someone definitely breaks UK laws on racism and regarding this site, the existing AB rules on such matters, should anyone falsely accusing another of being a racist be suspended?

I think I know where AOG is coming from. I try to treat everyone regardless of race or colour as I would like to be treated, BUT the problem it would appear could be cultural rather than racist. The first house my late wife & I bought was at the time of the immigration of West Indian folks & the part of Birmingham we lived in was one of the first places where the...

The killing was probably an overreaction, Jim. But but that than no reaction at all. I believe that is the correct way of looking at this, isn't it? Althouh, to be honest, I am not as well up on these things as you.

PIEDPIPER15, if I don't want Mr Smith to live next door because he plays loud music all the time that is not racist. Mr Smith happens to be black so if I say I do not want ANY black folk living next door because they will play loud music all the time, that is racist because I am allying Mr Smith's behaviour to all those of the same colour regardless of the fact that I have yet to meet these other black folk.
Hope that is clearer.

/// Tell me AOG...do you have some kind of wonderful new search engine, for when you scan the DM website ? Can it automatically detect the magic words like black, Muslim, Racist, etc ? ///
You missed out Immigration and Europe also, but ignoring that.
No i don't need any new magical search engine, since this has been headline news on every media throughout the Western World, I do not need one.
But one could say the same about your regular obsessive pokes at the right of politics, although for some reason we do not hear you praising the virtues of the Labour Party so much these days, I wonder why?
Incidentally while on the subject of politics, did you know that there is a separate section for politics, perhaps you should consider using that, it will save all your clutter on this news section.

AOG...you obviously missed my praise of Minimum Wage, ignored by the Tories from 1979 to 1997 but introduced by the Labour Party, after its landslide victory in 1997 !
Here is the praise this morning :::

There's a search facility Mikey. But you don't have to look too deep with the DM.
/// AOG's views on black people, seem to have worsened since 2013 when he proclaimed that he wouldn't mind what colour people lived next door to him, as long as they didn't play loud rap music: ///

So grateful you produced that link, it just proves how this "wouldn't want a black person living next door to me" has been enlarged and taken out of complete context by those wishing to cause trouble.
This is what I finished putting:
/// Therefore it is on a cultural basis alone that I would prefer not to have a black person living next to me, and not because of the colour of their skin. ///
But even for this, one must read the complete thread, so as to witness how all this came about.

/// Come on, this is your own argument being used against you so please give is the reason you said
'black'. ///
It was simply an example of black culture, on a discussion appertaining to the difference between Racism and Culture.
If you want to make more of it then go ahead, I am sure you will, but don't expect any more answers from me.

Yes. Except and unless...................
And then it all starts again. The eternally outraged versus real world dwellers. Sometimes a big sigh works as well as anything.

It's called steering on the side of caution, if one has had a previous bad experience then it is wise to be cautious.
Just like if one is bitten by a particular breed of dog, then it would be only natural for one to treat all other dogs of this breed with extreme caution.
