A woman starved because she had no letterbox

What is this about? I head this in brief on the news on the radio this morning and almost took it as a joke - what kind of sick story is this anyway?

It all boils down to the regular theme of the family can't be bothered and its somebody elses fault that you so often here in relation to problem children.

I don't understand why, if she was able to go and cash her benefits and pension, why didn't she go down to the office and collect them or tell them she wasn't receiving the cheques?

And why didn't the postman just slide her letters under her door, leave them with a neibour, put a note through the door saying he'd tried to deliver but couldn't and for her to pick her mail up from the PO?

why refuse all offers of help and to install a postbox?

it defies logic that she would sit and starve, rather than go to the PO to pick up her money. she must have been one stubborn woman to do that
