I wish people wouldn't put words into my mouth !
I have never, ever said that we should take every single person fleeing the war zone that is Syria.
What I have said that we should offer asylum to more refugees that we do at the moment. Indeed, dave has now come around to my view on this.
And I am quite willing to give him my support on this issue.

There appears to be many councils in Britain that are willing to offer sanctuary.
To continue to make personal comments about me on AB is just stupid and offensive. the rudeness from some people is also uncalled for. I am not the only one on AB that thinks that a better humanitarian response is needed, but to read some people here on AB, the Usual Suspects, you might be forgiven to think differently. I am not in a position to take refugees into my home but I am quite willing to donate money to help the situation. I agree with Gness here...Whatever we think of Geldof, at least he is doing something, not just carping and jeering from the sidelines
Europe has a whole, need to do more to help in what is the biggest refugee crisis since the end of WW2. Not just Europe. America has remained strangely silent in the last few weeks. They and other countries world-wide could do considerably more than hey are at present. The New World is populated almost entirely by immigration.
There is no point in burying our heads in the sand. As long as this dreadful war is going on in the middle east, refugees are going to continue to flee for their lives.
