I very much agree with what you say. I do not believe the Germans must wear sack cloth and ashes.Lessons were learnt from the past and they do their level best to atone for what happened in the past but still educate their children, "never again". They do not sweep the past under the carpet like the Japanese and deny their History.
Small memorials and holocaust remembrance statues all over Berlin alone.
I still believe they will not take their Syrian guests lying down and quietly.
I do fear rivers of blood.

I don't think any of them will be thinking straight just now, they'll be traumatised by the journey in inflatables or packed in lorries. It must have been horrific. However, they have decided like lemmings to take off, and to hell with what the rest of the world thinks, just demanding now to be taken care of wherever they end up, which isn't going down well with anyone. Greece have enough on their plate, and now people don't want to holiday there with a bunch of migrants sitting around. Sir Bob Geldoff is outsainting himself and has said that they can live in his place he must have a big house so he'll be attracting them like flies. The Germans are usually strict for registration and the proper way of doing things, they could probably deal with them so well that they may wish they were back home again, which seems easy since the Syrian father who lost his family was back there in no time.

Those arriving at the moment, mostly but not exclusively, young men, have that same air of expectation bordering on aggression about them I thought. The reporter spoke to three of them and one was from Pakistan, another from Syria and third from Afghanistan.

This might already have been suggested as I haven't been on here for awhile but I think the German nation is conscious of its recent history and how the Jews in particular (also many others) were expelled from that country and that those who did not get away were rounded up and eventually exterminated as if they were vermin. Somehow I feel they feel the need to compensate in welcoming these refugees but no doubt a lot of German people resent this and there are probably no Jews who would consider living in Germany since the war. However, in due course Germany will find that there are many more muslims and they are committed to spreading the Islamic faith and all that it forbodes in generations to come as they must never forsake Islam.

Oh, ****** woofgang (I put asterisks because I could not actually think of a suitable word, I think I shall say 'Oh asterisk' in future). This all sounds so much like so many Pakistani louts/pupils I tried to educate (read 'fight' for a lot of them) for so many years in Bradford and Halifax. They lie as they breathe and they are so very swaggeringly sure of themselves. We, more modest people, are taken aback by their certainty - and there they go, leaving us a bit bemused as to how they came to dominate us. Reason - we try to be reasonable and examine their point of view; they dominate and have certitude. We need certitude.

Perhaps it is the time for a resurgence of basic Christianity. Muslims can recognise faith-based belief, they have contempt for anything not faith-based and Christians are at least 'People of the Book' and so recognised in Islam.

I'm NOT saying 'everyone go to church, quick'! :) I do think that that is perhaps the only opposition they may respect and - how do I say this without sounding bigoted? - we should remind people that our liberal society was brought about by Christian values over hundreds of years. I know that many of these years were horribly bigoted, vicious etc. But our society is the result and we value our freedoms. Please don't anyone go on about the stupidities and horrible bits of the past, I'm trying to point a way forward. No-one has to become religious, just stand up for common values (they are based on Christianity), religious Muslims recognise these as religious values and it helps to bring us together.

It's late, I'm on pain-killers, does this make sense? It does to me. Hope it makes sense to the sensible people on here. I'm off to bed to nurse my rib now. 'night x PS I could of course be rambling in a hopeless mess of ideas about peace and justice etc...

Yes you are certainly reading it wrong, but you are not on your own.

Most of us (those who's common sense is not easily swayed by a picture or any other propaganda) would rather them stay on their own continent or at least in the first safe country, no one wishes them to commit 'suicide' but we can't force them not to do so, it is not us who are loading them willingly into unseaworthy vessels.

Blimey retro, rose-tinted spectacles, I heard that there is a complete shortage of those, a complete sell out at specsavers and Amazon (other outlets are available), but apparently stocks have almost diminished and Labour's Central Office has been all out of them for some months.
