Now Who Could Have Possibly Forecast That?

Isn't there evidence that large numbers of Muslims in this country (and in the rest of Europe) DON'T want to blend in, Andy? Most of the "blending" I've seen is the West's trying to accommodate Muslim sensibilitie s rather than their trying to adjust to ours? In fact one might say that the West is blending over backwards to please a group many of whose members...

RandyMarsh - "The ISIS smuggler, who is in his thirties and is described as having a trimmed jet-black beard - sounds legit this."
Sure?
One of the edicts for strict Moslems is that they do not trim their beards - it is regarded as a sin.
They don't come much stricter than IS adherents, so either he is helping them out when they are busy - or he is not the person he claims to be.
Just a thought.

Presumably then, Andy, you think ISIS MAY have both the will and the wit to export (or, perhaps, repatriate) jihadis to Europe. If so, why do dismiss the express article as scare-mongering? There are now hundreds of thousands of migrants entering Europe, some from Syria, some from elsewhere, many with , but many without papers, the majority from strongly Islamic countries. Can you not see that this might well pose a serious threat?

Please allow me to simplify my position -
Do I think IS will smuggle jihadists in with the migrant population - yes.
Do I think there will be 4,000 of them - no.
Do I believe there will be 4,000 because IS say so? - No squared.
Hope this helps.

No need to be scared then, Andy: there definitely won't be nearly as many as 4,000.
I don't understand your complacency knowing that four, forty or four hundred potential Lee Rigby murderers are heading in our direction. It certainly scares me. Please let me know what you're on so I can get some, too.

/// I am always delighted to debate with polite AB'ers - I simply ignore most of the rest. ///
Since you are not ignoring me, then obviously I must be one of your polite ABers, but then I always knew that.
But while on your favourite subject of politeness perhaps you should take a leaf out of your own book, and show politeness to others. Perhaps you would care to take a look at your 13.18 post where you took a dig at me personally without any digs from me previously.
/// Once again Git tries to turn a thread into a personal spat with his self-obsessions. ///
I was going to ignore your childish tit-for-tat name calling, but I wish to point out that my calling you by your surname does not warrant you calling me Git.
Surnames are used all the time in the adult world ie Cameron, Blair, etc, etc.

Since you still feel the urgent need to exchange posts with me off-thread, I am happy to respond, safe in the knowledge that if you stop, I can stop - so the responsibility for 'de-railing' threads as someone said, lies squarely with you.
"Since you are not ignoring me, then obviously I must be one of your polite ABers, but then I always knew that."
A faulty analysis, but never let the truth get in the way of a little sarcasm.

That was not a 'dig' - that was a statement of fact. If you don't wish to be called out for your habit of calling me naive, then simply desist from doing it.

Actually - I think you'll find it does. I have posted more than once that I object to be called 'Hughes' and you persist purely for the purpose of provocation. Since you use half my user name, you cannot be surprised or annoyed if I do the same - the precedent is yours after all.

I doubt that anyone would refer to either of those gentlemen by just their surname in direct communication, because it is boorish and ill-mannered, and they would take exception to it - as do I.
The solution is entirely in your hands - of you wish the courtesy of your user name - which apparently you do, then offer the same courtesy to me, and I will be delighted to reciprocate.

Although the smuggled ISIS fighters would present a clear and present danger, the actual threat is slightly more ong term. One can find any number of quotes attributed to leaders in the Muslim states that conclude "we don't have to fight them (westerners in thier home states) we will simply breed them into captivity"...

Consider this please - IS supporters' perception of the West and Western culture is entirely what is handed to them by their superiors, and possibly by their media. A parallel in this country would be everyone doing exactly what they were told by the Pope, and getting their impressions of the outside world from the Morning Star.
But as we know very well - the West is a hugely diverse mix of cultures and societies, rather than simply one huge homogenous 'infidel' mass.
Maybe, when some of the potentially radical Muslims arrive here, they may find that not only is the West not as horrible as they were told, they actually like it, and want to blend in and live here.
It's a thought.

Why does it always have to be the Hughes way, you started this all off with your 13.18 post?
/// A faulty analysis, but never let the truth get in the way of a little sarcasm. ///
Yours is the faulty analysis, I was merely responding to your past comment that you simply ignore all other impolite ABers, and since you had not ignored me, a simple supposition would be that I must be one of the polite ones.
/// That was not a 'dig' - that was a statement of fact. If you don't wish to be called out for your habit of calling me naive, then simply desist from doing it. ///
I had not previously called you naive on this thread, so your remark was totally uncalled for, so was obviously used to cause friction, where none was called for.
/// You use half my user name, you cannot be surprised or annoyed if I do the same - the precedent is yours after all. ///
If you wish to go on with you school boy mentality Hughes then go ahead, Git is becoming to sound almost endearing

Most of the "blending" I've seen is the West's trying to accommodate Muslim sensibilities rather than their trying to adjust to ours? In fact one might say that the West is blending over backwards to please a group many of whose members show little respect for the culture of their host cultures. Willing to give examples of both propositions on request.

It doesn't have to be any way at all - threads go the way they go, I thought you had been on here long enough to be aware of that.

If you really are that desperate for a 'points' victory - and experience shows that you always are - please have this one on me.

You have done it in the past, often - and you know you have, so if you don't want your rudeness to bounce back on you, don't offer it in the first place.

No, I don't wish to follow your puerile petty baiting posts - you really do show yourself to be a bitter nit-picking thin-skinned posturer with this to-and-fro posting that you start on such a regular basis.
You are like a dog with a bone, or should that be an 'old dog' with a bone?
If anyone else following this exchange is finding it half as tedious as I am, they must wonder what on earth I am still doing engaging with you.
It is because I hold a glimmer of hope that beneath this increasingly personal antagonistic prodding and provoking personality that you have developed of late, the AOG I used to enjoy debating with is still around.
It is a glimmer - but it is still there.
Let's stop this now shall we - it is a waste of our valuable time, and no-one else wants to read about us bickering like this.
And no - that is not 'an instruction' - just a hope that you can meet me half way, and we can all move on.
What do you think?
