I am sure they will, but this is terrible. Not much additional info at the moment as to who the dogs belong to and how the attack started.

Warning - The footage is potentially upsetting

///Will Pit Bull Owners Defend This?///

Given that AB is a UK based Site and in the UK, it’s against the law to own certain types of dog. These are the Pit Bull Terrier, Japanese Tosa, Dogo Argentino and Fila Braziliero. I don't think there will be much in the way of defence posted!

Sorry missed out the fact your Video was filmed in a New York neighbourhood

Ok, I understand that point.
What I should have perhaps said is will this change the U.S approach to these animals. As the U.K has done.
Will US owners defend this, or specifically defend their right to keep them as pets, I wonder?

Sorry but I don't know any US Pitbull Owners!
Any dog can be deliberately bred and trained to be dangerous or can be bred with no care and raised in such a way that they only fear and distrust people. I am not a pit bull owner or even a bull breed owner but as with any animal, its is the way it is bred, raised and trained that predicts its behaviour and responsibility for that lies not with the dogs but with the humans.
I had always assumed that any pit-bull owner of any nation only owned them for unsavoury reasons and hence wouldn't care what they did much.
If you can find any dog owner anywhere on the Planet to defend that then I advise you to avoid them like the plague.
a fairly fact-free story, that one! I'd better have some more information before I issue my judicial ruling.
not at all Prudie. In the US there are many Pit Bulls as family pets. The American Kennel Club have renamed the breed the American Staffordshire Bull Terrier, I guess because of the bad press that Pit Bulls get. The UK Kennel Club did the same with the GSD because of the bad association with Germany. The United Kennel Club (also american) still call it a Pit Bull.
Any family owning these ytpes of dogs must be nuts!
I'm terrified if i see any dog that resembles them as i walk in the streets or countryside and their not on their leads. Gives me the shivers even from a distance.
what "types" of dogs Pusskin ?
Pitball type dogs. I am really scared of them, sso wouldnt ever own a dog because i could not take it out for a walk in fear of me and my dog being attacked. yes, its true.
Pitbulls are not legal in the Uk. Are you seeing Staffies do you think?
I agree with Woof, it isnt the dogs fault, the breeding of these dogs should be stopped! The problem is, they dont just bit and move on like most dogs, they will attack and will continue to attack and it will not give until immense damage has been caused, even death! The breed is totally unreliable and unstable, and even pit bulls kept as family pets and calm and cuddly and all that can suddenly turn and can kill.

If people want to keep this breed going, they need to be highly trained to look after the dog and the dog should be registered as a dangerous animal.

This is no family pet and should never be kept as one!!!!
There are a lot of staffies around now, they are (generally speaking) a very safe and stable breed, however there are elements out there that are breeding to make then nasty, and with that they will most like go the same way as the pit bull eventually.
RATTER, I have never met or had a pitbull, but surely if they are unstable SOME people have selectively bred them to be like that or not taken enough care to ensure that they are not? Any breed of dog, including your beloved wolfies, can be selectively bred to be potentially violent and on top of that, trained or treated so that they are more likely to attack.
Woof, the pit bull was bred many years ago specifically to be viscious. I'm sure that it could be bred out of them but it is unlikely ever to happen because so many people want that type of dog purely for its aggressive nature and mean image. It would be easier to just ban the breed altogether.

Er, it is banned in the UK
I know it is Baldwin, I was referring to the USA where this attack took place and many others like it.
