Gromit /// Are there 13 years of your life that are expendable, locked up by a foreign power without trial?/// Well AOG has spent over 7 years of his life on here and been accused of many things by foreign powers without trial! Should he be paid compensation? ;)

Imprisoned without crime and without trial for 13 years in a prison known for it's torture techniques. You aren't really questioning his state of mind are you?

Mentally ill people don't lose the ability to smile.
Amazing diagnostic powers you have there AOG all from a photograph too.
I'm not sure....but someone, somewhere needs to be held to account for his 13 years detention and if that translates into £££££££s then so be it.
I agree with Jack here.

This man has never been charged with anything, despite being imprisoned for 14 years. If this had been an America citizen, and he had suffered the same fate in a foreign country, the Yanks would have sent in a gunboat a long time ago.

Land of the Free my *** !

"However, it is thought Mr Aamer - who described as a 'close associate of Osama Bin Laden' who fought in the battle of Tora Bora in US files obtained by the WikiLeaks website - will be subject to monitoring by the security services on his return."

oh dear....i see the usual gullible mugs have had the wool pulled over their eyes yet again......he went to work in afghanschitistan for an islamic charity...yeah of coures he did

He's not even British. So that'll be us paying his compo then.
Imprisoned without trial

The brits agreed this was wrong in 1679 ( Habeas Corpus Act )
Thirteen years without recourse to Justice seems a bit stiff

and after a few years - there is the added pressure of 'we can't let him out now or we have to admit we couldnt prove anything'

or as Mrs Thatcher wrote:" do we have to go thro all this again ? " about some innocent IRA bombers so they stayed inside for another 5 or 10 y

Perhaps, but then again there are some great nations who have even opened their doors to swarms of invaders, all from a photograph.

Hold on there, I know we have become the whipping boy for the rest of the world, but this time it is not 'Brits' (as you wish to call us) but the United States who have imprisoned him.

OUCH!

Pity there was no divine message in a bottle washed up on the shore giving the answer to this migrant crisis!!

Even if there were, it would take the announcement by our great leaders that they are to convene an 'emergency' meeting in a months time, to discuss the finding of the bottle, then another meeting so as to discuss the feasibility of the contents, and then yet another meeting of how and when to implement the solution, etc etc.

Meanwhile the crisis gets completely out of control, has now is the case.
AOG,

Are there 13 years of your life that are expendable, locked up by a foreign power without trial? If YOUR last 13 years had been incarcerated without justice, would YOU be prepared to shrug it off as 'just one of those things'?
Those guys weren't locked up for traffic offences you know? Whiners get real!
///Those guys weren't locked up for traffic offences you know? Whiners get real///

This guy was never charged nor stood trial, he was simply locked-up on the suspicion or say-so of someone.
It was pre-ordained, as with all things. What's the problem?

Or is that just a get-out, like 'free will'? (Not to be confused with Free Willy)
Gromit /// Are there 13 years of your life that are expendable, locked up by a foreign power without trial?///

Jack;//This guy was never charged nor stood trial,//

This is true, but this guy and his family were living on benefits, he left them and went off to Afghanistan to do noble charity work. I just checked that the cheapest single flight to Kabul (now) is £464.

Why? Go figure!
So you know and they couldn't bring a charge - there must be an opening for you then.
