In this case the security guards were only doing their job, why did this person need to make such a fuss.
/// A spokesman for Tesco said shoppers could take baskets to their cars, as long as they were brought back to the store. ///
Oh yes, and how many would? some can't even bother to wheel the shopping trolleys back where they are stored.
But it appears she managed to get a £10 voucher out of it along with press coverage, the only saving grace is that the security guards also happened to be black, else it could have been even more serious.

What is this daft woman going to do every time she shops...take her basket halfway across the car park and risk this being misinterpreted as an attempt to steal the ruddy thing....or pay about 50p for a bag-for-life ?
Definition of bag-for-life...one off payment of about 50p and never have to buy another ever again.
I hate to repeat this but ....simples !

Then carry your bag for life with you everywhere like a child's security blanket.
Oooohhh the ruddy bag is, at home, in the wrong car, in the right car but not with you when you are shopping, haha have fun and learn you people in England. 'She who must be obeyed' even displays shopping bag envy, someone should invent paper bags.

Togo...I realise that you may be being ironic here but it really isn't difficult to remember to put a couple of these bags-for-life in the boot of the car. There are other, less bulky ones that don't take up much room in your pocket either.
We have been doing this here in Wales for a few years now, and there just isn't any fuss made any more. Not that I recall much in the way of fuss being made when it was first introduced mind you.
Even if you have forgotten the bag-for-life, a reusable one only costs 5p, which is hardly a fortune !

I have heard of people dressing their best when they go to court, but I wouldn't imagine that this is this chap's normal attire.
