"the Health Service Is Safe In Our Hands" ?
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/he alth-34 353408
The Tories have been in power for over 5 years, but according to this, the NHS is in serious difficulties. To quote from the BBC report :::
Regulators said the problems were the "worst for a generation" and demanded immediate action be taken.
dave promised us that the NHS would be ring-fenced, so why is close to collapse now ?
Just in case anybody thinks the BBC would say that, wouldn't they :::

Mikey, //Just to please Naomi//
If you want to please Naomi, stop your interminable and tediously puerile political spinning and be honest for once. The NHS has been in decline since the introduction by a Conservative government of what it called “Care in the Community” as a cost saving measure – that’s exactly what it was - in the early 90s. A huge mistake in my opinion – and one not rectified, but grossly exacerbated, by the subsequent long years of disastrous Labour government that heartily encouraged PFI.

With a swiftly growing population, this is a complex problem that extends far beyond the current or the previous government – and attempts at petty political point scoring do nothing to address the issue.

Naomi...well at least you have admitted that it was the Tories "Care in the Community" was a mistake.
Ignoring your insulting language, you still haven't answered the question
dave, the Leader of the Tory Party ( I trust you wouldn't nit-pick with that definition ) has been in power since 2010, and the situation with the NHS has become considerably worse.
From the Telegraph, a famously Tory newspaper ::: "
"Regulators said an “over-reliance” on agency nurses and doctors to plug shortages of staff was fuelling the growing debt, which is forecast to reach a record high"
Given that that dave has had over 5 years to recruit and train our own people, why hasn't he done it ? Mrs May was bad-mouthing immigration a few days ago, but its clear that foreign staff are keeping the NHS going, albeit costing us a small fortune.

Yes.......but you can't Press Gang people into nursing training in the NHS, if they don't apply for nursing training, then nothing can be done. Nurses and doctors are leaving the NHS as they have been doing for the past few decades for better working conditions abroad.
Another huge blunder is training more women to become doctors, a complete waste of time and unhelpful,to the NHS.

Mikey, I know you don’t like the truth, but there’s little I can do about that. You prattle on as though everything was rosy under Labour, but it wasn’t and this is nothing new. Our own doctors and nurses, trained by the NHS, have for years been opting to work in the NHS via agencies because it pays more - and that, of course, costs the NHS more. My sister in law is one of them. Furthermore, it was a Labour government that encouraged PFI and introduced monetary fines for hospitals that failed to meet impossible targets implemented by people who know nothing about hospitals, nothing about health care, and certainly nothing about business. The imposition of fines upon hospitals already struggling to pay the debt that Labour encouraged them to take was the most ridiculous decision ever made, and so we end up with hospitals fiddling figures in order to avoid fines that exacerbate an ever-increasing debt that they can’t afford to repay. This is the stupidity of a system that this government inherited where administrative staff outnumber medical personnel and where doctors are obliged to dance to the tune of clerks. The only way to remedy that is to wipe the slate clean, bail out the hospitals, stop PFI, get rid of over-administration, get rid of government interference, bring in people who actually know how business works, and allow those who know what they’re doing to get on and do the job. The money is there. The NHS needs to take a leaf out of the book of private hospitals that don’t rely upon borrowing to survive. It’s an enormous task that can’t and won’t be completed in a matter of months. The rot set in years ago.

Sqad...I will leave it up to others to discuss your last point with you !
My only experience with NHS nurses is my niece. She qualified as a Paediatric Nurse 5 years ago, and works in the local SCBU. Her nursing qauls are now full degree. I accept that a degree would be useful in some positions but what we seem to need now is good " old fashioned" nurses, if you know what I mean. My niece is a bright girl but she admitted that she found the academic side of her training very difficult and challenging, which might not suit a all school leavers. Bring back SEN and SRN perhaps ?

I don't see how it will be political suicide, Naomi. People who currently vote Tory will continue to vote Tory. They also have "got theirs" (wealth) and will have no difficulty affording private medical insurance. The working class will be pushed down the social scale by another couple of thousand pounds per year.
Those who are too ill to work but not sick enough to pass ATOS criteria will cease to be anyones problem after their money runs out.
