It's all very well wanting your country/people to be seen as the nice caring folk, but judges, even ex-judges, should be capable of seeing the larger picture and the possible consequences of trying to be Madam Bountiful. As I understand it refugees stay in neighbouring countries. Otherwise they become economic migrants. So this view of the judges is misplaced/inappropriate. I wish my country to be caring, but not to the extreme of being one of the world's unthinking suckers. One needs to understand one looks after one's base first in order to be able to continue offering help where needed. And the main focus should be on solving the cause of the conflict and helping those staying in camps just over their country's borders.
Wasn't they recently complaining about the cuts in Legal Aid?

So perhaps they want to top up their gravy boat.
Apart from that I wonder if the hordes will upset their standard of living, will their children's education be effected, will they have to wait hours in their A&Es, will their community be overcrowded, etc, etc?

Now you know why the countless asylum applications are waved through and valid deportations blocked and overturned. Fifth columnists all, and making a fortune from the legal aid trough. We wouldn't know what was going on if the judiciary had their own way would we andy, apart from what they choose to tell us of course.
I could understand it if ONE was 'out of touch'. But 300!
If 300 leading doctors signed a letter, or 300 economists then I doubt anyone would say they were out of touch.
Compared to other countries 20,000 is pathetic. The Government response is a political one, not one based on the size of the problem.
