/// The Home Secretary will say to the National Black Police Association Conference that it is “simply not true that knife crime is rising because the police are no longer stopping and searching those carrying knives”. ///

Then please tell us Home Secretary, why is there a rise in knife crime?

And whilst querying quotas, I wonder how many white officers are in the National Black Police Association?

After her performance in the "Rivers of Blood" slot at the Tory Party Conference, she seems to have gone back to her favourite activity, of baiting the Plods.

Nobody gets up the nose of the Police quite like Mrs May !
She went up in my estimation when she spoke at the Police Federation conference and gave them what for.

Is she Maggie reborn?

Hoppy...I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy !

By the way, interesting report in the news this morning, about a lack of Afro-Caribbean Police Officers in three forces :::

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-34600290

I can't speak for the other two but I don't think there are many (any ?) Afro-Caribbean people in Dyfen Powys, but I might be wrong I suppose !
For Dyfen, please read Dyfed ! ( oh for an edit button !
Is she PM material?

I honestly don't know personally.
First thing that springs to mind is why on earth does the National Black Police Association exist? Why does the Police Catholic society, the Moslem Police Officers society exist.
There has been the Police Federation for many years. It is the National mouth piece for the Police. They are the Federation that negotiate with the government for wage increases, better protection, etc They do that on behalf of ALL British police officers no matter what race, colour or creed they are.
As for lack of Afro Caribbean personnel in the British Police Forces it is not as though there has been a colour bar. Quite the opposite. My younger son tried to get into the Met and was told they were only recruiting for ethnic officers. Again ridiculous government targets were set. You can lead a horse to water but you can't make them drink.
The truth of the matter, largely through their own fault, the Afro-Caribbean society do not trust the police and young men are under pressure by their peers not to join. I believe the expression is "Uncle Toms"

/// By the way, interesting report in the news this morning, about a lack of Afro-Caribbean Police Officers in three forces ///

Interesting to note that your BBC link did not mention this, as reported by the Daily Mail.

*** Four police forces do not have a single black officer despite years of work to put more bobbies of all races in uniform, Home Secretary Theresa May has revealed. ***

*** The four are in Cheshire, Durham, North Yorkshire and Dyfed-Powys, although each has small numbers said to be either mixed race or of Asian or Chinese origin. ***

Blimey isn't that good enough, or does every police force have to have it's fair share of every ethnic minority in the UK, maybe in the future there will be a cry for more Libyan representation, or is it only the Afro-Caribbeans that are lacking?

Interesting to note that there isn't a mention of 'BRITISH' in that description.

Further to above. Is it correct, do you think, that a Moslem police officer is allowed to specialise and join the Diplomatic Protection Group?Bear in mind you would have to do two years probationery training at a police station, pass your final exam before applying for a specialist dept. In that time the aspirant would have learnt what the resposibilities of that dept are.
When this officer has to take his turn protecting the Israeli Embassy he kicks up a fuss and plays the race card. Is a British Police Force supposed to let officers pick and choose where they serve. It is supposed to be a disciplined service so don't join it if you want to change the rules to suit.
/I wonder how many white officers are in the National Black Police Association? /
Apparently anyone can join the National Black Police Association, or so it has been claimed on AB. I expect they welcome white members to demonstrate that they are in no way racist or even 'skin colourist'.

/// Although Membership of the NBPA is "not based on colour", it is effectively restricted to officers of "African, African-Caribbean and Asian origin". The NBPA has been criticised as a racist organisation because of its selective membership criteria based on ethnic origin. ///
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ali_Dizaei

This man was once the chairman of the National Black Police Association.
Seems like it is a self serving organisation for people such as Dizaei.
This man, an Irani, had it all. He rose to the lofty and lucrative rank of Borough Commander. No prejudice there I would of thought.
This man broke almost every rule in the book.Fraud, corruption, abuse of power, cavorting with prostitutes. Jailed. Released on appeal.Jailed again finally for 3years.
If this is what the association represents then it should be banned. The Met Police must have spent more time, money and resources investigating the Chairman of The Black Police Association during his tenure than the villains on the other side of the street. Quite a rap sheet.
Stand by for more quotas....

is this to make blacks happier if they get arrested by a black PC then ? or just to make all the do gooders et al feel better about themselves ?....
Is there a White Police Association ?
That would be racist, Bobsy

Shouldn't have to be. The National Police Federation represents everyone in the Police Force/Service. One size fits all unless the chip on your shoulder dictates otherwise!!

Instead of always thinking "it's because I'm black" maybe the black communities should seriously blame the criminal element among their communities instead of defending them?

They may then find themselves less under the attention from the police.
Well said AOG. The voice of common sense.
Funny we have a country where I am frowned upon if I call someone "black" (I was gently told off by a friend the other day who said it should be "afro-caribbean").

And yet we have the "black voice choir", the "black police federation", the "black lawyers association" and a host of others.

We even have a "black history month" every year

Sounds very racist to me (are Chinese allowed in the "black police federaton" for example)?
