Yes. The Squad was correct and doing a job I hope would be expected of them. They are attempting to obtain potential evidence to keep this country safe. It is far more important than our hunger for sensitive information that the media think we should be aware of.I suppose some would say it is curtailing freedom of the press. I would rather miss newsnight because it had no news than get blown up on the London underground or bus.
Nope. They almost certainly gain nothing or, at best, very little, from such action. What they do achieve is stopping people communicating with journalists, which means that ultimately there is even less information available than before.
Any communication via the Internet between Britain and Syria is almost certainly being monitored by GCHQ. So they can already access the information they need.
In this instance, stopping the journalist is designed to stop the true facts from reaching the public. The Government want you to know half a story so that they can justify spending £millions on war in Syria. If the general public were to know the full facts, they might object to all the money we are wasting trying to effect regime change in Syria.
The security Services are keen that we only get to hear from sources that are on message and peddling the Government line. Anything that goes against that narrative they want to stifle.

So why seize his computer? If he has information that is likely to help in the fight against terrorism, they should know about it. They haven’t stopped him.
Gromit, Clearly the authorities aren’t relying upon Lebenese TV for their intelligence. They’ve taken this journalist’s computer. I wonder how much of his information he’s sharing voluntarily with them?
