Sorry for the confusion. I don't really know who these people are. I just find it amusing that headlines in a national newspaper (which some may term one of good reputation) describes somebody's medical history.

Judge Dregg was a fictional character who appears in British comic books and Judge Deed is also a fictional character played by the actor Martin Shaw.

Whereas Judge Rinder is actually a real life barrister who happens to be gay, and features in a series on TV which is the British version of American Judge Judy.

To answer your initial question - if he knowingly passed the virus on, then he may be liable for compensation claims.

However, first of all we do not know whether he engaged in penetrative sex, or of he did, whether he used protection.

Furthermore, it would be encumbant on the claimant to prove that he knowingly passed the infection on, and that they were free of infection prior to sexual engagement.

This may be possible, because add riding to reports, he had sex with adult movie actresses, and in that industry it's common practice for performers to have certified HIV screenings.

Yes you can easily understand my confusion. I have also just discovered that Judge Deed's daughter (in the series, that is, not in real life) is Charlie Deed. There's so many Charlies in all of this I just can't keep up!!! :-)

I still find it odd that this makes the papers. I understand the "gentleman" in question may have had quite a few lady friends and may want to get his news out to them as quickly as possible, but I cannot help but think splashing it over the newspapers is hardly the most sensitive way to go about it !!!
