I have no idea whether I would see it as, in some small way, revenge or at least defiance, or very insulting. You'll probably find a mixture of responses.
I agree with Zacs. From the interviews I've seen they are all determined that ISIS won't win by instilling fear and making them scared to go out. To me a message that they won't be broken.
We've puzzled over the colloqialisms a bit, but 'no' is the eventual answer. This is the classic French response and French families will understand and respond in kind. It is defiance and support of the French way of life.
well but they knew the style and chose to work there....I am absolutely not saying that excuses the attack but Charlie is Charlie and will behave like Charlie.
"But it's Charlie Hebdo's 'style' which caused/resulted in the deaths of it's employees "
So are you suggesting that someone else who doesn't get the joke is going to shoot them all again?
The Daily Mail should not be reprinting this: it will just fall victim to cultural misunderstanding. As your comments prove
Joe, you're not getting their stance. They have done it as a syrirical way of saying 'up yours' to ISIS 'we will not be bowed down by your threats and actions, we will carry on despite your best efforts'.
