Once we recognise there is so much crime out there
that they cant deal with it all

then it is necessary to prioritise

and t a certain extent I agree that investigating historical cases ( which are not statute barred so it is possible ) where there is no evidence besides the word of the victim may not in these days of terrorism be the best way to spend money

Part of the thing is: dead people dont point guns at you and shoot you so there may be a preference to investigate these rather than bombs guns and terrorists - it is after all only natural

If my abuser had been alive when I found the courage to say what he had done to me ....to tell of the sexual acts he had forced the seven year old me to perform on him and with him....I would have wanted him to answer to it....whatever the cost.

Justice , however deserving, cannot be served on a dead person -I think that is his point. Prosecuting a dead person gives closure to the victims and perhaps leads to further prosecutions of linked crimes where the perpetrators are still alive -that is a good thing.

Forgive me if I waffle....this is the one subject that makes my head spin in anger....

I eventually had to tell what had happened to me to explain some of my...I don't know....behaviour...... is the best word I can find.....problems I had too I suppose.

It helped that people who had known him now knew what he was really like.
That sounds selfish of me.....but it mattered to me and they don't talk about him in front of me now...that helps too...

Had he been alive then I would have reported him......I don't really know why....what difference it would have made....none I suppose....but he was wrong.....terribly wrong to do those things to a child however long before.

Reporting after his death?......That wasn't a consideration for me.....he had nothing to lose then......
Reporting someone famous and admired......different I think.
