Never a trigger-happy cop around when you REALLY need one, is there? Before the hand wringing bed wetters let loose, I am of course joking. He ought to be charged with wasting Police time though. ......and his lawyers horse-whipped.

What are the chances of them winning though?
I seem to recall there was some history with this family which might explain some of the responses by the school/police- or was that something made-up by anti- Islam groups?
It's America; suing is a national pastime there. One would feel stupid if one didn't try for a few $M

In the current climate? In the US? Pretty good!
It's not like they beat him.

He made a clock that could be mistaken for a bomb! Who would want to live in a country that doesn't arrest someone for that?

They may have gone too far now.
The school made it clear at the time, that they had plenty they'd like to tell us about 'clock-boy' but wouldn't, or couldn't because of data protection/child protection.
The gloves will be off if they let this get to court.

initially I criticized the school and police but it didn't take long to realise what was happening.
It doesn't look like anyone is going to step forward and defend him.

Why would you think a remark like that is funny?

Well, for one thing wet beds need wringing out because somebody had a loose bladder (medical term, look it up).
Enuresis. If that helps.
Andy,
Humour in any form is generally wasted on you. It would appear sarcasm(in light of current events in the US) is too.
Nobody else felt the need to comment, only you. Maybe that ought to tell you something.....

I would argue that humour is not at all wasted on me - and I think I am better qualified to comment on that observation.

If you feel the need to tell people that you are joking, that suggests that the comment is open to misinterpretation - specifically as being a view with which you concur.

In other words, how funny is a comment, if you, the writer, need to tell people that it's funny, in case anyone gets the wrong idea?

That suggests to me that it is you who has the out-of-kilter sense of humour!

Don't give up your day job!!
