We are discussing 7/7 & KL remarks, Andy
Jim, //it cannot ever justify murder or absolve the terrorists of their total guilt for their crimes. It's this last point that is causing the outrage, or at least should be. KL appears to have made that point; AH has not.//

I think he has.

From tambourine - //The only fact is KL opinion. That does NOT constitute factual evidence of the cause for the 7/7 terrorists. //

From andy-hughes, //If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck ....//
Bazwillrun...all you have done today is to demonstrate how childish your posts are. As Andy has already said...while all the bile and vitriol ? Can't you make your point in an adult way ?
Did the bombers leave either a suicide note or did they do a pre-mission video?

Without the like of those, we can only guess as to their motives. As per the most popular mis-spelling of my username, could they have been under hypnosis?

Incidentally, if suicide is forbidden in Islam (anyone know?) or killing unarmed civilians fails to count as "death in battle" then some major trickery would have been needed by their organisers. Or ignorance if their own religion. Or they were just dim.

Hypognosis, // if suicide is forbidden in Islam (anyone know?) //

Suicide is forbidden – but martyrdom is rewarded.

//or killing unarmed civilians fails to count as "death in battle"//

If the civilians are considered to be the enemies of Islam (as the West is) it is justified.

//then some major trickery would have been needed by their organisers. Or ignorance if their own religion.//

No trickery – or ignorance.
Hypognosis...they are not dim, just severely misguided and misinformed.
Mikey, //just severely misguided and misinformed. //

No. They follow the tenets of their faith and they know exactly what they're doing.
Naomi...they follow a twisted and debased interpretation of their faith.
Mikey, no - they don't. They follow the tenets of their faith.
"They follow the tenets of their faith..."

I'm not wanting to argue with this point exactly, but what sort of message is it we're sending out to the rest of the Muslim community if we're saying "hey, you aren't following your faith at all properly, only those terrorists have got it right"? We can't stop people being Muslim, but we can certainly try to encourage a moderate interpretation of the religion (although, as with other religions, this is a change to come from within). Except many people aren't doing that, instead confidently asserting that the only true Muslims are the terrorist ones.

I don't particularly care how much truth there is to this, or not -- it's enough that this is exactly the last message we should be spreading.
Oldham will be very interesting.
On that we will have to agree to disagree then Naomi !
Jim, why on earth would you think that any Muslim would be influenced by what we say? They do what they do. Allah knows best.
@mikey4444

Does this mean that you never and I mean *never* stray into R&S, where we've established what naomi just pointed out here?

Naomi's point is that all Muslims are the same and I don't believe that is the case.
@mikey4444

//they follow a twisted and debased interpretation of their faith//

I recognise this as words uttered by Cameron. (I'll google for links, if asked)

It wouldn't surprise me if the left used words such as these, too.

I need to think carefully before I follow this line of reasoning too much further.

Muslims might not listen much to what non-Muslims say -- except that, if they listen to a radical preacher about how the West hates them and must be destroyed, and then hear Westerners repeating this message, it's bound to have some reinforcement, no? And if nothing else, it serves to stir up anti-Islamic sentiments among the non-Muslim world.

It is, put more simply, a highly divisive message to spread to suggest that the ISIS interpretation of Islam is the correct one. I can't see how it does anyone any favours to say this.

Mikey, I seem to have missed the post where Naomi said

///that all Muslims are the same///

perhaps you could enlighten me?
Jim, Muslims don’t need me to tell them what their literature contains. They don't all follow it to the letter as IS does - but they know - and nothing you, I, or anyone else says will influence them in any way, shape, or form. I actually think it's rather patronising to assume it might.
Baldric, Mikey is talking nonsense.
