... about Jeremy Corbyn as an electoral liability?

Under his leadership (and even after the savaging given to him by the Tory press yesterday), we have seen a significantly increased Labour share of the vote - up by 8 percentage points - about a 15% increase.

Perhaps the Try chattering classes and their lackeys in the right wing press have just not seen what is apparent to those of us on the ground - JC is well regarded as an honest man, who is becoming an increasingly effective opposition to a badly out of touch Tory oligarchy.

[ ... Conservative vote share halved, UKIP virtually static, Libdems and Greens just ahead of Sir Oink a Lot ]
JC an honest man maybe, but daft as a brush imo.
.... but they still can't resist insults in place of sensible debate.
Labour won 62.27% of the vote - up 7.49% from Labour's result at the 2015 general election.

Labour - 17,322

UKIP - 6,487

Conservative - 2,596

Liberal Democrat - 1,024

Green - 249

Monster Raving Loony - 141
^Postal votes?
Svejk,
Have you posted a letter since Royal Mail was privatised? The postal votes might just get there for the 2020 election.
Included in the above figures Svejk. They are a legitimate form of voting in this country.

Sour grape Farage seems to have some sort of spurious gripe about this though.
I read about the ethnic postal voting fraud(including Oldham) in The Guardian.

Svejk,
Did each ethnic person make two postings? :-)
^At least. ; )
Easily done.
Well you managed it @ 02.07 this morning Svejk. !!
Thanks SirO, I was aware of that.
Glorious victory for Labour ! Complete humiliation for UKIP ....the Party that was going to "change the face of British politics" .....still only got 1 MP, despite years of trying !

Vindication for Corbyn !
well..votes count ..and matter....think there might well be a labour swing up here too..
Minty...I expect a bounce back by Labour north of the Border as well, as soon as people realise that the SNP cannot provide what it has always promoted...independence for Scotland.

I predict that the SNP vote will start to melt away over the next 4 years, and Labour and the LibDems will move in to fill in the gaps.

Who knows....even the Tories might win back a seat or two !
not to mention the recent financial "mishandlings" etc...^^
and we DON'T want independence...that is done and dusted...but SNP are on dodgy ground at the moment with mismanagement../financial impropriety/oil crash... and Corbyns back to basic left approach usually goes down well up here..
Party leaders do not win by-elections,candidates do.
