Mother Tersea - Confused

The catholic church has said Mother Teresa has had a second miracle attributed to her.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-india-35129463

The Vatican said "The miracle involved the healing of a Brazilian man with several brain tumours in 2008"

Mother Teresa died in 1997, nine years before that.

How can this be attributed to Mother Teresa?

Is this modern day and age I am staggered that people still believe in this sort of thing.

Surely it is no better than "witchcraft".

And it staggers me that MORE people follow the catholic church rather than less, even with the churches controversial history and modern day abuse of children by priests.

I suppose it shows how many gullible people there are in the world.

Peter.....no prayers are answered....there is no one at home to answer them.....

My question is......How do those who do believe explain that their god chooses some to heal.....and some to leave suffering?
And why do they accept that?
I think Gness that some are so wrapped up in their joy at what they think they have witnessed/experienced they are blinkered to the points you are making.Especially so if it is their prayer that appears to have been answered.

I have only ever prayed for help for someone else never myself.

I believe miraculous things happen every day on this planet but I don't attribute them to any intercessions.
gness, God’s sovereignty, God’s will, God’s plan for each individual, God’s test of faith, an individual’s opportunity to share Christ’s suffering (I think the sufferer is supposed to be grateful for that). Believers will give you a plethora of reasons – but whatever the reason it is never God’s fault. He is doing what is best for us and we must accept it – and if you believe that, you’ll believe anything.
gness; //....and some to leave suffering?
And why do they accept that?//

I have learnt that life inevitably deals us unexpected circumstances that remind us to expect the unexpected, these are the unfolding of both karma and current, and transcend human understanding.
\\ transcend human understanding. //
religions biggest cop out.
//transcend human understanding. //

There is nothing requiring understanding - except life happens.
The unexpected; We have planned that on Christmas eve we will go to Friends for dinner, they in turn, are to come to us for lunch on Christmas day. She is younger than us, attractive, vivacious, with a good job and has made many plans for the coming year.
On Friday, she learnt that she has a tumour, she will find out tomorrow (Monday) whether it is benign or malignant. I have been on my knees and prayed that it is treatable.
As I said, life happens. I sincerely hope your friend receives positive results.
I think you mean negative.
Indeed - in a positive way.
Thank you for answering, Khandro....also Mamya and Naomi....

I heard transcends human understanding so often growing up it make me shudder.... every relative, nun and priest would use the phrase to answer my questions. It is as Vulcan says....it can be nothing else.......

I'm with Stephen Fry on this.......if there is a god.....I want nothing at all to do with such a cruel being.

Khandro......I wish well for your friend......x
Being unqualified to preach I recall the story of Job. It has an underlying threat to non believers that I would not risk testing.

Being reared an RC, I have tailored the faith to fit my lifestyle but I would not deny my trust in God lighting my path. Sounds a cliche but thats my simple belief.

Sob sob sob, jordy.
//..….It has an underlying threat to non believers that I would not risk testing…//

And there you have it. Not love of God, but fear of God – and that is why religion survives.
Incidentally, the story of Job illustrates more than any other biblical narrative the appalling cruelty of that monstrous God. Why anyone deems him just is quite beyond me.
Tambo....the story of Job would be all I needed if I had a god to reject and despise.....

If you're happy and harmless in your faith that's fine......

I know that some folk do good in the name of their god.....but that good could be done without a religion that does much more harm than good...and that is what the RC Church does.....not that it's alone in it's harming...x
Mother Teresa -people assumed she was "forced" out and perhaps she was but we know that it was this priest who had some hand in it. They couldn't stand each other.

Odd...why has Jordy's post been removed?

Frankie Lane singing "I believe."
