TTT, I wasn't suggesting that
no Tories were elected outside England, but just that they were about as rare as hens' teeth! About a dozen or so out of some 120.
Also, it's just not true to suggest that Scotland has "never been Tory". I'm old enough to remember the days when they frequently rivalled or defeated Labour in Scotland. The MP for the constituency in which I was born in the 1930s was Bob Boothby, for example, a man from the very heart of Conservatism!
