Any Sympathies For This Poor Couple?

Clearly getting a job has not crossed their tiny self centered minds. Now I know they are both not carrying a full load but surely anyone who cannot see the problem should not be walking the streets, let alone be responsible for children.

Yes, I have sympathy for anybody unlucky enough to have been born that thick.

I don't view them as harshly as you. 50k is not actually that much money when it's you're living on. So they got excited when they won and bought stuff and went on holiday.

They do admit they have been silly , I'm not sure about sympathy for them but some forward thinking would have helped them greatly.

If somebody used to benefits wins a lot of money it is just more of the same.... Money they didn't have to work for.
If somebody who works wins a lot of money, they know the value of the winnings and will not fritter it.

50K is not much?

Maybe not to you but its about 2.5 years net income for an average earner.

Perhaps you would like to set up a fund to help them?

What it shows though is that a smallish windfall for people with nothing is just an advancement of their benifits, just like redundancy money is.

He was sentenced to 6 months for assualting his mother and her friend, including spitting on her knowing he had Hep C. The children don't live with them so they're not supporting them.

It's not a life changing amount. It's not an amount that you could retire on a live a comfortable life!

They were on benefits...they are guilty of not thinking forward. Not realising how quickly it can disappear when you have the extra living costs to pay.

If I blew a 50k win on clothes and holidays...it wouldn't matter because we have jobs.

Personally, no, I wouldn't. I used to run a business and we never checked anyones criminal history.
