Clearly getting a job has not crossed their tiny self centered minds. Now I know they are both not carrying a full load but surely anyone who cannot see the problem should not be walking the streets, let alone be responsible for children.

No, hc...

FF...I was brought up in a pub...and have worked in many more.
No sympathy at all, pair of thickos imo ........
I think that the first post, by cactusdriver, is appropriate. The fact that they would advertise their actions and subject themselves to this publicity and the resulting ridicule indicates just how simple-minded they must be.
Yes...they were irresponsible but maybe the threat of eviction is what made them go to the papers.
No
I do feel a bit sorry for them. They had a nice life, supported by benefits. Then they were unlucky enough to win the lottery. As a result, it's all gone pear-shaped for them - they would have been better off not winning!

A few lessons here for other people on benefits who do the lottery ...
They wished about it, the tkt was bought, they won it, they spent it likes fools, they are now getting kicked out, hard ***.
We had that lesson years ago with Viv 'spend, spend, spend' Nicholson
I think quite a lot of people would go a bit mad when 50k hits their bank account.

I don't know about that ummmm. When I was made redundant and had no job lined up I thought twice about how I spent every penny of my redundancy- I took the view that it might have to last me at least 5 years.
Okay, now I'm working if I won £50000 I might splash out a few thousand on a holiday or redecorate but i'd still keep most for a rainy day- or at least spread it over 5 years
Damn foolish to go to the press with his background.
No sympathy whatsoever. It seems like their sense of entitlement has deserted them. Seems like he created an own goal. Relied on Mum for hand outs and assaulted her.
They can look on the bright side. Born 100 years ago he probably would of been chemically castrated and put in a "workhouse" and she in an asylum.
On another thread here today, I mentioned that the Powerball Lottery (here in the U.S.) has reached a record of $675 million dollars and still no winners so the next one in a couple of days is likely to top $! biliion U.S. dollars for the first time in history. Interesting thing is that recent studies have shown that winners of even millions of dollars are usually flat brke after only a year. The recipients seem to think that seemingly immense amounts of money aren't exhaustable. Unfortunately, most of the winners have no concept of how quickly it can disappear when being doled out at $100,000 a time...
But you learnt to live within your means...as have I and most working people. Getting benefits from the age of 22 knowing your housing/council tax are paid...and that you'll receive X amount weekly...doesn't teach 'some' how to be good with money.

I think they just got over excited and bought things that they hadn't been able to afford before not thinking about the end result.

I got a compensation payout...given, I wasn't on benefits, but my reaction...yay...lets go shopping.

I agree entirely with ummmm.

£50,000 is no nigh deal and doesn't go very far if you are not familiar with what money can buy, so o can easily see how two morons can "blow the lot".

Have i got sympathy for them? Haven't given it much thought and don't really intend to.
Yes I read about her hc, I believe she's dead now.
i won 4 grand on the lottery just over a year ago and i still have that 4 grand :))
no begging letters please :(
Yeah I have.

As I mentioned on another thread, three years ago I won $25,000. I still have it, except for around $1000 that I spent on some minor kitchen renovations
