Don't forget Marco "third is the new first" Rubio, who is just about the only credible "sensible" candidate (still got plenty of dubious views, but it's hard not to find that among Republicans so you take what crumbs of comfort you can get).

Literally the first line of Cruz's victory speech was "Let me first of all say, to God be the glory."

That's probably more worrying than anything The Donald may have said if he'd won. Instead, Trump said he was "honoured" by the second-place finish - although doubtless if he'd won, he'd call the person coming second a "loser".

The next president will almost certainly be one of these five people:

Ted Cruz
Marco Rubio
Bernie Sanders
Donald Trump

Cruz might have trailed in the polls but the feeling was that it was his supporters who were more likely to turn out to the caucuses.
If anything Cruz is scarier than Trump though. Just not as overtly obnoxious

I think I'd rather have Trump than Cruz. Rubio actually performed strongly. With any luck all the others will withdraw and get behind him and both of these nu thins can be consigned to history
