We in the UK live in a veritable paradise: we have perfect weather, incorruptible politicians, a perfectly functioning health service, no poverty, no racial tension, no crime, a faultless judicial system, the most vibrant cuisine in the world, the list is endless - what' s not to like?

After describing the UK as "a tiny little cloud-bolted, rainy corner of sort-of Europe" .......I think that's pretty accurate;
..."a cake-filled...." we've certainly embraced the confection industry with wide-spread arms;
....."misery-laden".....she must have popped onto Answerbank regularly;
..."grey".....in places, yes;
"old island," that's true , too, although 'islands' would be more accurate.
She and her family live here and pay taxes here and she has done her bit for the Tourist industry too, I believe.

jackthehat, I take "grey" to refer to the colour of the skies, which is absolutely accurate - though it may also refer to the hair colour of an increasingly aged population (including me).
