If the UK leaves the EU, and then sees itself as less secure in terms of its defensive capability, that can only be a good thing - it may encourage governments to stop poking their collective noses militarily into the affairs of other nations, and mind its own business - Switzerland is a good example to follow.

thats another argument entirely.. //
I disagree.
Various UK governments have caused untold damage around the world with their military invasions, basking in the security of common defence from Europe and the USA.
If an exit from Europe concentrates government minds on the fact that we no longer have an empire, we are not a world power, we are not the world's police force, or its conscience, and we may well get a taste of our own medicine without defence from Europe, then that can only ever be a force for good.
One less country with an inflated opinion of its own global importance and the arrogance to inflict its governmental policies on others must increase the chances of pointless conflicts being seriously reduced.
