Police did all they could in this incident and all agreed they took the correct course of action.
The PETA spokeswoman however had to give her idiotic two pennorth worth:

It was a loose dog on a dual carriage way that had bitten a Policeman -end of - if they had captured it and given it back to the Hunt Kennels the huntsman would have killed it anyway. It would have been kinder to shoot it but that was not possible (apparently)

That road is a Duel Carriageway NoMercy, I use it often, there are caravan site's to the Left as you are heading towards LLanfairfechan, on the opposite you have open ground that goes to the beach, I feel for the dog / owners, if the dog would have been under control it would still be here, human life's come first I'm afraid, It does in my experience in driving, that road is a fast road & used by HGV's running to>>from Ireland + motorist's.
This is the N.Wales traffic Taliban Baths. They think nothing of closing that road at mid-day on a Bank Holiday, plus at the moment there are restrictions on that very stretch of road for repairs and maintenance, at both the Conwy and Pen-y -Clip tunnels. This includes at time closing the road to allow contractors vehicles carrying wide loads to gain access. They never close the road when it is quiet, at 3am say, that would inconvenience the police and not be as much fun for them. Plus overtime is much more acceptable during the middle of the day.
Yep TWR, I tend to agree with you. My old Dad, long since gone, was proud of having the Institute of Advanced Motorists badge, and told me never to brake hard for a cat or dog....*Baths takes cover expecting many outbursts of fury*

Steady now Togo,...my only child is a serving police officer in Wales ;) (well, S Wales, and he is CID, but even so,...talk to him about overtime, if you dare!

" Maybe the Police will prosecute the hunt for failing to secure their hounds and causing a menace to traffic/public nuisance?"

and which law would that be

I think your stongest line of defence for the much maligned boys in blue is:
" oh come on, you're behaving as tho it were an immigrant ... "
// Steady now Togo,...my only child is a serving police officer in Wales ;) (well, S Wales, and he is CID, but even so,...talk to him about overtime, if you dare! //

There are so many 'dog legs' an the road at the moment I think the police decided to add a tail, head and body.

From the link for those who couldn't read it:

///The dog had gone missing from a hunt and police said the owner supported the force's decision.///
Have the officers who ran the dog down been offered counselling?
Very observant!!!!
If the firearms officers didn't think they could get a good shot, I think they need some more training, For Funks Sake....

The PETA ( People Eating Tasty Animals ) spokesperson seems to be confusing the Police with the RSPCA.
