I gamble there is not much chance of him being given up by the 'community'.

He wasn't in Court, the judgement was in his absence.

I aaume the offenses where against a child 'in his community' so it follows that he was probably given up by them in the first place. If you bother to read the report, it says he has connections outside of his community.
* were * against a child
Javed's escape was not made public until this afternoon- three days after he fled the court.

Not the best of starts. Let's hope they nab him quickly and anyone who may be harbouring him.

If he's disguised in a burqa they've had it.
yoooman writes I'd imagine!
shackled and drugged with the killer truth serum drug Halothane ?
that would keep him in his seat - especially if he were chained

far too much of this innocent until proven guilty carp around
if he has a foreign name ( and he has - ) then of course he shold be deported....

willbe sentenced in absentia ( since he was present for most of the trial ) and will go on to serve his sentence when caught

and the Muslim community dont have a history of sheltering criminals do they any more than the oirish ( well den dere's anodder race of criminals and morderers ! )
Prisoners in UK courts do not generally appear shackled unless a specific request is made to the judge or magistrates. The request must include the reason why the prisoner is thought to need restraining and must include evidence to support it. Essentially this means that the prisoner must either present a specific security risk (e.g. there is evidence to support he may be “sprung” from the court) or he must have a history of trying to escape custody.
It will probably turn out that G4S or some other private company were supposed to be looking after him while the jury deliberated.

I gamble there is not much chance of him being given up by the 'community'.[i

Why's that then?

Are Muslims more likely to harbour a known paedophile in their midst?

Why would they do that?

Or are you talking about some other community. If so, which?

It [i]is] strange though. At the point that the jury deliberates, I assume that the defendant would have a police officer, or two, assigned to them. And whilst I've never been to a real court, whenever I've seen documentaries on telly, the defendant is normally handcuffed after they leave the courtroom, aren't they?

Very odd.

///He wasn't in Court, the judgement was in his absence.///

///Javed's escape was not made public until this afternoon- three days after he *fled the court*.///

Well, someone's got it wrong.

I thought you said you weren't a gambling man yesterday? ;)

Tariq's a gamboller though grrr!
He was in court and fled while the jury were deliberating. He was then declared guilty.

What report have you been reading because it is certainly not this one.

*** Child rapist on loose after fleeing
"COURT" ***

*** POLICE are hunting a convicted sex offender who fled "COURT" moments before being found guilty of raping a child. ***

*** Tariq Javed, 37, of Aspinall Street, Rusholme, Manchester fled Minshull Street "CROWN COURT" on Monday February 29 while the jury were deliberating their verdict. ***

*** Javed's escape was not made public until this afternoon- three days after he fled the "COURT". ***

/// I aaume the offenses where against a child 'in his community' so it follows that he was probably given up by them in the first place. If you bother to read the report, it says he has connections outside of his

Assuming and Probably, does not make it the truth.

And where does it say he has connections outside his community?

He comes from Manchester.

*** Tariq Javed, 37, of Aspinall Street, Rusholme, Manchester ***

So it seems he is bound to have links with the Manchester area.

** He is known to have links to the Stockport and Manchester areas of Greater
Manchester. ***
Balderic,
The headline "on loose after fleeing court moments before jury found him guilty" give the impression he fled the Courtroom when he escaped. He was in fact in the court building, probably being moved from a secure cell to the courtroom.

There are two Crown Courts in Manchester, a first tier and this one which is a third tier. Most serious cases take place in the first tier court where I assume security is much strong. (perhaps New Judge can fill us in on the difference).

// He is known to have links to the Stockport and Manchester areas of Greater

Manchester and Stockport are big areas. Between them they have 60 postal areas, of which Rusholme is one. Rusholme has a large Asian population so it might fit your decription of the 'community'. But Manchester and Stockport combined are not an Asian community. Therefore anywhere other than Rusholme, is not his community.
