/// Mr Collins said the two women had changed into full hijabs which covered their faces and bodies, adding: “They were in disguise. They followed (the juror) on to the train and stood close by him.” ///

/// Mr Collins said police seized Masooma Khan’s mobile phone and discovered a text conversation with a cousin or family member who was responding to her plea for help with the trial. ///

And to think this one was a Law graduate?

/// Mr Collins said: “The contact claims he has a connection to someone who can bribe judges.” ///

Makes one wonder how far some of our ethnic minorities have infiltrated our justice system.

I'm not sure that the clothing issue and the attempt to pervert the course of justice are necessarily linked.

It is right and proper that these women have been caught and sentenced and will, hopefully, send out the message that Jury-tampering is completely unacceptable.
"Makes one wonder how far some of our ethnic minorities have infiltrated our justice system."

Are you suggesting that the justice system should be manned only by white British who can trace their heritage back to the days of the Norman conquest?

Surely a more apt question would be - how endemic is jury nobbling ?
Yes JTH but I'm sure you will agree that as stated the women were literally in disguise which enabled them to follow the male juror to his home undetected.
Surely another case of a certain section of our community being allowed to walk the streets of the UK in disguise. The wearing of such garments should only be allowed in private.
Well, it wasn't much of a disguise...
The could have quite easily behaved in the same manner 'out' of disguise.
It would be ludicrous to believe that all women dressed as such were on their way to a potential nobbling of a juror.
*They...
You were right the first time with Their.
Or carrying a Kalashnikov under their long garment !!!
Did they do that, too?
There's no mention of it in the article, WR.
It was never much of a disguise as one offered to take her hijab off when she tried to nobble the juror.

They had by that time finally approached the juror, the disguise prevented themselves being recognised by CCTV cameras, that may have recorded them following the juror from the court.
Glad they were caught and jailed.
But they were identified on the CCTV.
Enough is Enough. Ban the wearing of ALL facial disguises in this country ASAP.
Of course this isn't a reason to ban the hijab. The pair could have used any 'disguise' to follow the juror. They could have surveilled him from a distance and then approached the juror. Because an item of clothing is used by someone to commit a crime, does not mean that item of clothing should be banned.

// you targeted the juror. You thought because of his ethnicity you might find a sympathetic ear. //
It is worth noting that these two are behind bars due to the integrity of the asian juror.
The capture of the phone and the police getting the identity of someone who can nobble judges is also down to the honesty of the juror.
// the Khan sisters had been at court that day but were later identified on CCTV at Leeds train station wearing different clothes. //

So as a disguise, it wasn't very effective.
It is an article of clothing that offends me.
You choose to be offended.

I could be wrong, but doesn't a Hijab just cover the head, as per the photo's in the link, and does not cover the face, so not really much of a disguise.

Sorry, hit submit too soon,

... and it's a Niqāb that's a full face covering garment?
