Ellipsis (23:04)....yes, I think he would. His resignation letter says it all.
Question Author
Talbot (23:52)....no I haven't, and I still him credit for what he has done.
Did you open up the link and read it?
Question Author
Yes I did Talbot, but it doesn't alter my opinion about his resignation.
I have no problem believing that personal advantage would have been a factor in IDS' decision, but I see nothing to be surprised at, that, when one had one's collective responsibility hat on one would push for one thing, then after reflection and opting out one would express a different personal opinion.

DC should have bewared the IDS of March.
Question Author
IDS changed his mind !

Another factor is that it appears that there has never been any love lost between IDS and Osborne. I have just heard John Humphrys say that it was widely known that Osborne thought IDS wasn't intelligent enough and that he was a "bit thick" .....IDS didn't go to a posh-enough school perhaps !
Primarily the disability benefit system needed sorting out, judging by the number of people who were driving around in cars, paid for by the state, who were quite able bodied.

I know of two particular cases, who had theirs taken from them, and what about the number of cases where so called disabled have been found playing golf, and carrying on as none disabled person do. I have also witness many who hold blue disabled parking badges, who will spend one hour walking around a supermarket.

IDS had the task to sort all this out, and managed to get the spending down, and in the process it was obvious he was going to upset some.

But it seems that now he is being continuously expected to impose even more cuts that are now beginning to effect those truly in need claimants, so he has done the honourable thing and said enough is enough.

Even though he has given up a very highly paid position, that is not enough for the left or some of the media, as they continue to lampoon the fellow.

Could the real reason really be, that Ian Duncan Smith is also in favour of coming out of Europe?

I thought that was common knowledge.

Can you argue against that?

I can't fathom out why you are so delusional over this, mikey.
Question Author
Talbot...delusional about what exactly ?

IDS has resigned and cause huge embarrassment to Dave and Osborne. If you read his resignation letter, he makes it quite clear why he has gone.
Question Author
AOG...of course IDS is in favour of coming out of the EU......lots and lots of Tories hold the same view.

Dave gave his Cabinet permission to disagree with him over this issue, so IDS didn't need to resign in order to campaign for the Leave vote.
Allegedly, ...... the cuts to the disability budget was discussed at Cabinet leve, before the budget and there was general agreement, including that if IDS. Less than a week later, he resigns because he disagree with them.
If I was PM........I would be pi22ed off with him.

There are disabled and ...disabled and clearly some people are getting benefits to which they are not entitled.

Trouble for the Tories, but luckily at the beginning of the Parliament, soon to be forgotten.
mikey, he has thrown in the towel over a policy that was about to get binned. He has had ample chance in the past to show his caring side ... why has his conscience suddenly surfaced?
Question Author
Talbot....I'm not sure I can add anything new to what I have already posted on this thread !
mikey4444

/// so IDS didn't need to resign in order to campaign for the Leave vote. ///

And I never said he had to.
IDS is not finished.
He will return when Dave and Gideon are gone, which might be sooner rather later if the country votes for a Brexit.
And IDS' departure now is contrived rather than an accident.
// I have no problem believing that personal advantage would have been a factor in IDS' decision,//

I thought he had latterly grown a conscience
but others have pointed out that he engineered the bedroom tax what rendered 8000 people homeless....
so I am right then? prep for leadership moves? remember I said it here first!
woofgang
so I am right then?

No, I do not think you are right at all.
