But Islam does allow the raping of infidels!

How does that work then?
^^^ They just do not shake their victims hand afterwards.
Spot on, aog. See two recent threads on this subject. Apparently it is forbidden to shake the hand of a woman but quite OK to rape her. More grist to the mill.

They'll soon have us back in the 15th Century if we keep giving in to them.
They're not all bad: Quite a few are a lot worse.
//They argued that Islam does not permit physical contact with a person of the opposite sex, with the exception of certain immediate family members.//

In strict circles that's true. However, some Muslims adhere strictly to 'the rules' when it suits them - and that's when they're determined to be awkward. I don't believe this concession should have been allowed.
yes I quite agree, the teachers should be strapped down and flogged to make the Muslim students feel more at home.
If they feel that way towards females, perhaps they should question their judgement about being taught by them.

As an ex-teacher, I would join probably every other female, Swiss teacher in refusing to teach pupils who displayed such basic disrespect for my work.

Respect works both ways. Appropos - did anyone hear the programme on R4 this morning at 9.00 a.m. on the Deobandis and their horrifying power?
Ultra orthodox jews also don't shake the hands of females outside their family circle - where is that outcry?
Now I know about it, Islay, I would voice exactly the same objections - as I object to both halal and Kosher practices.

And if they did the left would all be up in arms against them rather than backing like they do for Muslims.
So two lads aged 14 and 15 have caused an entire Country to be outraged, I'm sure it could have been handled better and indeed quieter rather than sending out the wrong message to other gullible students.

//The Federation of Islamic Organizations in Switzerland (FIOS) however maintained that handshakes between men and women were "theologically permissible" and were common in some Muslim countries, insisting the issue should not be problematic in Switzerland.//

I also know of people who quake at handshaking but not for any religious reason but shan't sidetrack the subject matter.

You always use CAPS M for Muslim, Islay ... was jews an oversight?

There should be an outcry at any act that basically says women are an inferior specimen to men.
Islay, ultra-Orthodox Jews don't demand that the rest of society bends the rules for them.
agree Islay - orthodox Jewesses dont do the kissy kissy hand shake bit and everyone respects their views

Thank you for pointing out my error Talbot!! I did not realise that people were so fussy on here!
PP ... the spokesman for everyone.
