Yes
I obviously can't point to every source of every bit of the money

maggiebee, don't bother. I'll take your word for it. So is it just this government that expects you to keep track of your money - or every government?
He is making a statement tomorrow on tax evasion ... should be worth tuning in.
Maggiebee/Talbot, I've found it. //He [his father] left me some money, very generously, quite a lot of money. It was £300,000. I obviously can't point to every source of every bit of the money, and Dad isn't around to ask the questions now.//

Don't you think quoting that was just a little bit disingenuous of you? It wasn't David Cameron's money so obviously he can't point to the source of every little bit of it.
-Talbot-, got your knitting needles ready?
Why ... do you think he will be apologising?

Or will he be once again brazenly berating them other tax dodgers?
I've no idea what he will say, but as far as I'm aware he hasn't dodged his taxes.
Could his mother's gift (£200,000 in 2011) allow the family estate to avoid a potential £80,000 worth of inheritance tax?
He is a lying hypocrite without a spine.
Yes it will unless his mother dies within 7 years of the gift, sp.
Re: OP I echo Ummmm's first response, but would add that he tried to tell half-truths and therefore forfeited trust. Now he is deep in the mire, the jackals are out for him (not me, as it happens) and has only his own innate sense of his superiority and untouchability to blame. Not a pretty sight.

I'll the rest of the responses now.
Jourdain, We seem to be running alive with senses of superiority around here.
I'm looking forward to seeing Jimmy Carr's analysis of the situation if we ever get full disclosure. :-D

Cameron made a profit on investments in a tax haven.

He criticised Jimmy Carr when it was exposed that he too was in a tax avoidance scheme.

I think that every single person who pays their fair share of tax has a pretty strong claim to being morally superior.
Douglas, the following was Jimmy Carr's initial response two days ago on Twitter:
"I'm going to keep it classy. It would be ‘morally wrong’ and ‘hypocrytical’ to comment on another individual’s tax affairs."
Brilliant!
SP, you’re going over old ground. We’ve been there and done that. He sold his shares long before Jimmy Carr came on the scene – and he paid his tax. This is crazy!
Ta, Quizmonster, I hadn't seen that. :-)

He has not done anything illegal, at the time these offshore accounts were set up it was not illegal. It has only become a legal issue in the last 5-7 years.

He paid tax on what he sold, his mother gave him money again nothing wrong with that I have seen questions on here asking just how to gift money so people do it all the time.

You will always get haters!
